What is he doing when he\'s putting the bits of paper on it? Pulling off layers of the paint? How does that explain the patterns etc, just random??

I know painting with stencils but that\'s something else... anti-stencils

I don´t think this guy invended this technique because I´ve seen alot of people doing art like him for a long time. Some guys here in Stockholm used to do such art. It´s really interesting to watch, but the smell of the spray aren´t that great, and I feel drugged every time.

But it´s fantastic anyway.

Dave, last time I was in NewOrleans (before the hurricanes), there was a guy there doing similar work. One of the things he did was to invert a can and tap it and rotate it. putting spatters out to make the star field.

Glad to see he is wearing a filter.

Pulling off layers of the paint? Yes as it looks to be Automobile paint on a flat surface and then additional layers sprayed on top the subsequent layers prevent the lower layers from drying. Placing paper and rough contacting will pull off the higher layers and lower wet layers below which still haven\'t dried.
How does that explain the patterns etc, just random??
Adding pressure to certain points will increase the adhesion of the layers of paints to each other hence the patterns.

Meh... There are artists in nyc who have been doing this on the streets for 20+ years now...

Tourists eat this kinda stuff up like it\'s gonna be worth millions 10 years from now.
