Views versus Votes?

Just wondering what everyone thought of the topic of views versus votes?

I noticed on an average, that the number of views outnumber on most mini\'s (after a given time) by about 10 to 1, that is 10 views per 1 vote.

Taking that a step farther, comments are left even less frequently, with an average of mabye 1 comment to every 50 - 100 votes or so?

Bottom line, I believe more people should try and vote, or perhaps leave some useful commentary. It would be nice to see the voting come in line somewhere of maybe more like 3 to 1 to views, rather than 10+ to 1, wouldnt you think?

Maybe I am missing something and thats why I am posting. Let me know what you think. Are more people choosing \"not\" to vote or comment, or are more people pulling up pics to view, reference, admire, etc, and choose not to really \"vote\"?

Perusal vs. Critique

Hey, peeps be the way they be. Some folks just wanna scan the cool models. Others, usually the more experienced and hardcore hobbyists, enjoy offering feedback. Personally, I enjoy analyzing models and offering suggestions about what might make a model even better. One thing\'s for sure: seeing so much high-quality craftsmanship on this board has really inspired me to reach for a new level of quality in my own hobby work! Thanks to everyone here for sharing my passion for the art!

I don\'t get it either

Certain dynamics produce more views than votes. For example, if you click on the forums box, you have viewed an image that you didn\'t get to vote on.

I try to vote on every mini I view, but clearly those have to slip by. Also, I will like to view some minis more than once.

Still, it\'s really skewed so I guess some people use the \"next\" arrow. I can\'t understand that since if you don\'t vote, it\'s just going to come back some time and you will look at it again when you could be looking at new ones.

Commentary? I leave it when I think it will add something or help someone. I can\'t comment on everything or I\'d never see half of what\'s here.

back in the day

when i 1st came here i would just download minis by browsing page by page. after awhile i really started to enjoy my daily fix of minis and wanted to leave some comments. im guessing alot of people just browse minis for the hell of it. even less leave comments because maybe they dont have much to say or just became members to post minis.

as for voting i think as long as your mini hits 150 to 200 votes your generally set for what people think of your mini. of course if you doubled the amount of votes then maybe just maybe your score would be different by .5

there always seems to be tons of people just viiewing pics so im guessing people just stop by like i used to and \"admire\" pics. i have to say im not involved with every site i go to on a dialy basis just because i dont have the time. i used to post comments at deviant art and try to go through as many picks posted as possible. when the site just got slower and the quality went down i started going to more mini sites to get my daily art fix and finally found cmon.

basically i doubt more people voting would have any decent effect by even double the amount of votes. so theres a bunch of freeloaders running around the internet killing bandwidth. thats pretty much what the internet is about.

as for comments im really inspired art wise not mini hobby wise so i enjoy the artistic interpretations approached by many here and so far have been amused by a good mini just about every day. this site is a great source of fantasy and sci fi goodness, fantasy being my favourite subject, and some minis i just have to gush about if they tickle me in any way.

Often when I\'m on just to vote for minis, a mini will come up that other people apparently think is very high quality but I think is total crap. When I can come up with criticism or a witty remark for what I don\'t like about it, I leave a comment, otherwise, I don\'t vote at all... the reason being my vote is obviously outside of what people would normally think about the model, hence, it\'s not really a valid vote in the first place.

There are some people who have voted on every miniature, and so don\'t vote again unless they\'re changing their vote.

Also, I look at my own miniatures to show friends, check comments, vanity lol , etc., so that adds a few views to my miniatures. Also, I\'ve noticed that if I post a URL to a group, I get 100+ views pretty quickly but few votes.

I\'ve voted on every image on here at least once. After a while I decided that if I didn\'t vote on something I\'d keep seeing it over and over. To keep it fresh I just had to keep going :D

As for comments, I usually only leave them if there\'s something really catchy about a model. Either that, or the artist left a description under the image. That really increases my likelihood to reply.

I am attempting to vote on every mini here, but at the rate that new picts are being posted, I don\'t think I\'ll ever catch up. I\'ll post a comment if no one else has said what I would say and I have time to do it. Many times I am just trying to vote on as amny as I can...
