YES to all the above !Thanks folks for the input. Except 1 suggestion .....

WARNING NERD ATTACK !!!!

I am pretty certain Space wolves dont wear purity seals :wow:. If you dig deep enough into there chapter beliefs and doctrines purity seals on wolves just wouldnt happen.
I know sone of the minis are cast with them on but if you read enugh about them I am almost certain this is the case

Any WOLF experts out there who can shed further light on this ?

I agree with you about the purity seals bit all the books and photos I have read or seen have never shown purity seals with one exception and that is the figure with the wolf head helmet and he has a token purity seal attached to the belt on the right hand front side but other than that it is all furs and tails/teeth as their loyalty thingies :D

Or in other words don\'t put purity seals on him :D

@Tim: Using google search for reference work. That means 7 psychic slashes for you good sir! ;)

@Adie: It is definately looking good but there is something qith the torso that bothers me. I can\'t quite nail it down what it is. But it might be a bit large. Maybe do a bit of cut-out on the lower part. Not entirely sure of the wings either, I\'d rather have something more Wolflike.

Those colours messes with my head though :drunk:

Yeah, except for the shoulder emblems that look a bit like Milliput Standard it does look like it could be made out of bubblegum :D

I belive you should do some norse iconography/animal knotwork. Make sure it\'s not celt but actual norse - it\'s much better for showing a wild, brutal people.
Maybe the idear about removing the wings is not completely bad, You could even leave that spot empty - big slap of stone-look

I\'ll havea look through my book when I get home from work - try and find what\'s fitting.
I have searched the web for stuff like this for my wolves, several times and it\'s hard to find anything really usefull, so I always end up using stuff from my books.

Its a great bit of sculpting skill, and he pose is good and i am sure once painted it will look brilliant...... but I don\'t like it.

I think he is too barrel chested and too broad. Its just in this larger scale it becomes more apparent that unless he has 6ft wide shoulders their would be no way that his arms can be inside the armour without being dislocated.

I also think the shoulder guards are to low.... they always sit higher on the small scale termies and look better for it.

Sorry Adrian, I don\'t mean to sound so negative, obviously I am going off the photo and I am probably completely wrong.
Or I could be giving bad advice to increase my chances in the next comp we compete in. lol

Just an idea instead of the wings maybe do a wolf tooth necklace to break up the bare armour.

Either that or maybe do some inscribed armour a small section of runes or maybe a section of chainmail (being barbaric)

Hope i helped

This is certainly true but we have to accept a certain amount of artistic license with this sort of thing - it\'s nearly impossible to design powered armoured suits where the limbs would be \'wearable\'. And this specific genre is not noted for its realism :D

Happened across an interesting pic just yesterday that relates to this, here (green-screen image bottom right).

sorry mate didn\'t have time to go through the books yesterday, hope I\'ll get around to it to day.
I\'m still thinking that you could leave the chest area bare, and give it a worn look instead. On the arms I could imagine some fur, king of like the loincloth hanging from the inside of the shoulderguards. Funne enough someone else mentions it, but I have been thinking of the chainmail thing as well - again for the arms, instead og the just suggested fur.

aye very true. look at where the shoulder joints would have to be on most termie and power armour. most of it is anatomically impossible. not only that, movement would be severely. for example, a marine would be unable to lift his arms above his head

Maybe it\'s the perspective in the picture but the hands look massive, or the head is too small. My fist is about the size of my chin to the base of the nose, this guys look to be at least 2 times bigger then his entire head. I\'m sure the gauntlets add some size but not that much.

Pretty cool other then that.

I presonally think Wolves would have purity seals, they did back when I painted them (RT era, around the time that Leman Russ pic. is from). What I always liked was seals with runic on them, that way you still get the Wolf look and feel.

Instead of the chest symbol and wings, I think a wolf head would look really sweet in the middle with maybe a couple leg bones sticking out, or a string of teeth or tails where the wings are now.
