well, he \'oughta be stupid if he places himself on a pillar during daylight, dressed in black.

And, when Im still on realism, why is his metal so clean? should they not be covered in coal or something? that gotta reflect a lot of light, giving away his position.

And boring? yeah, kindof, not too many colors, and the contrast grey/black is not too exclusive either, yeah so, an assassin should be black, but maybe details in red och purple would be fitting, just for breaking up the black a bit.

Erik, if you give this mini a 5.5, I am very interested in knowing what you would judge your own minis at. I hope you would be as critical with your own work.

I likes it. An 8 from me.

As for Erik and all this stuff...

My own opinion:
Erik, I think you\'re being a wee bit pedantic and short-sighted. Orb said it best. Science FICTION dude! CHILL! And if it\'s based on a GW drawing, and it looks cool, who give\'s a monkey\'s? :D I also think maybe you should broaden your horizons a bit - you only rate a mini 8 or more if it has NMM? (Incidentally, the assassin DOES have NMM, pretty nicely done too ;)). Realism shouldn\'t be such an überfactor here. Science FICTION. Not science REALISM. And maybe it\'s at night too :D Next thing you know you\'ll be criticising the shape of the assassin\'s rifle...

To repeat the recurring sentiment of this thread, that\'s only my opinion. I just happen to disagree with yours. Feel free to attack mine :D

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I appreciate all feedback even yours Erik:D

I personally don\'t agree with your comments with regards to the grass on top of the pillar (I work in a scientific establishment and there is grass growing on the roof of it) so I reckon if it can grow there it can grow anywhere.

Beezlebrush - The mini is this one:

not the one inthe first post.

Once again thanks for all your input guys.

I reckon its cool, some of the blends could be a bit smoother, but visualy it has a good feel to it. I can imagine an entire scene around it, and picture it with a full story behind it.

Its like a comedian said (cant remember who, but he passed it on to Eddie Izzard) \"The best mimes are mimes that the audience can picture the setting in, and build an imaginative world around\"
Your scene does that for me. 8/10

I put my feedback on this mini elsewhere although I generally like it. On a more general note. The realism of any work of art very much depends on viewer\'s experience. Some people believe that an assassin in black on a white background is stupid and therefore doesn\'t exist.

I believe all these people would have something to say about it. All these are either SWAT snipers or troopers and they all wear black... on a white background. There is a theory behind it too, but it is beside the point

as for grass not growing on the top of columns.. My god it does.... The reason you don\'t see it on most ancient ruins is because curators of these ruins put a lot of efforts into cleaning it several times a year. Coincidentally, one of them complained about just that about 4 days ago and we were discussing this idea of using thin polymer coats to prevent it... but I digressed.

Adding to the Science-Fiction / Fantasy theme vs. realistic or practical... I bet \"The Punisher\" had no problems sneaking around in the dark with that massive white skull on his shirt.

The not realistic thing just doesn\'t wash as far as I\'m concerned. Who says this guy is hiding anyways. Maybe he is a sniper guarding an entourage or whatnot, like the guys you see on rooftops when Flightsuit McChimpy is getting out of his car...

I actually quite like this too. It\'s a decent little scene that sets a decent mood. The paint work is definitely above average... some of the blends could probably use a bit more work but they aren\'t bad! I like the way that you\'ve painted the eagle too.

The grass growing on the pillar is absolutely possible and commonplace imo.

Erik... I don\'t see why you are suggesting that to add \'interest\' it has to have more colour ??? Also, giving this a 5.5 is a little harsh imo, it\'s certainly better.

7-7.5 for me, nice work :D

always, why?

5.5, neat paintjob, I\'d say the painting on the assassin itself is a 7, 7.5, but that light pillar, well, read what I\'ve already written.

Now, this is neat, but it\'s too clean to be an assassin, that metal would reflect huge ammounts of light, giving his position away.

Now, when I add all this up, I don\'t like the presentation, and for me, realism is pretty much all, and I will write this again this is MY opinion.

so yes, 5.5-6, I really don\'t see the problem, I only ever vote once, and I doubt my vote makes a huge diffrence, really.

And about the SWAT snipers, yes, BUT, they\'re stealthy, they\'re guarding positions, now, army Snipers, they dont run around in black cloths in the desert or in cities, they use camo, and a Vindicare is not Special Weapons And Tactics, they\'re part of the Imperial Army, they\'re not Arbites, sorry, I wan\'t to give this a higher score, but I don\'t think it really deservs a 7 or 8, reason; see above
