So what you are saying is, let\'s get in there and steal all of their resources, before they get as rich and powerful as us?

I like the cut of your jib!

If only politicians were as honest as that, they\'d get my vote:flip:

EDIT de Gaulle...He didn\'t do a lot for Anglo French relations. :flip:

Especially as it is extremely unlikely he would have got into power without the intervention of Churchill who stopped the Americans from completely sidelining him during the war.

The word \'Federation\' sends a shiver down my spine....

Especially when said with a French or German accent...:D

Any English word or phrase takes on a sinister vibe when uttered with a German accent....:innocent:

lollollollol

Don\'t get me wrong now! I go in for globalisme just as much as the next guy. I\'d just like to see some more social consciousness go hand in hand with the rampant robber-baronisme that we see i the global forum.... I mean, taking good care of the people you\'re stealing blind has to improve one\'s karma, don\'t ya think?

:rolleyes::D

Last month the exhange rate was 1 EUR = 1.76 USD
today:
1 EUR = 1.23377 USD
http://www.rtl.nl/financien/rtlz/koersen/index/?index=1&index_id=190143785
Highest rate since the start of the years was around 1.34. Not sure where your 1.76 comes from. Still, it has made a drop which is very good for export. It\'s a good
time to buy stuff here. Have a look at the German figures too like Assassin and Freebooter.
Going from the news the Euro rate will probably rise again since the double US deficit presses it\'s value down. There also seems to be a loss of trust in the dollar on the worldmarket and banks are starting to stock Euros instead of dollars. Also, more and more international payments are done in Euro instead of dollars. So the Euro is in demand -> higer rates. :/

The problem as I see it with the whole \'federation\' idea is that it is in many ways a political experiment based on ideological ideas and grand visions. I think issues such as national identities, independence and national democracy are much too serious things to experiment with.

True, true!

But on the other hand, without a belief in life after death (or at least in eternal damnation) then anyone could in this life do anyting they wished and get away with it scott free without regards of religious consequences or divine retribution ...hey, there\'s a thought!lol

But really,it is a utopian idea, imagining that good will among men can triumph over greed...it can and does happen between individuals, but between the IOwnItAll Crop. and LittlePoorLand...not likely.:(

so fucking angry

I\'m so fucking fucking angry !!!! OMG thoose bastards are so dumb ! I know sooo many guys, they vote \"no\" and don\'t have a single valid reason to do it !!! OMG now all europeans will think (but not without reason!) that the french are dickheads !

Those who voted no thought voting yes would expose them to have their jobs taken by east-europeans... but that\'s exactly what will happen NOW that europe hasn\'t a constitution !!! Their job will be taken by Asian/chinese poor guys who are alor cheaper to employ !!! Bescause europe isn\'t united enough then it will open the doors to lots of problems.... OMG people is so fucking stupid....

Hmmm....

Unthinking voters are the root of all problems in national and international politics...

Every ten years or so the Danes get disgusted with the present government, kick them out in the next election and replace them with the opposition. In all cases, the opposition is the same one they kicked out of the governmment ten years before.

The average voter\'s memory is short and his attention reaches no further than filling his belly. Again, don\'t get me wrong, I love people. It\'s the animal I don\'t really trust.

Plus...animals come with the added bonus that you can legally eat (most) of them:bouncy:

I\'m not an expert in history but when the concept of Patriotism become the usefull tool of our ( we \"European\" ) rulling class?
Our opinions are tainted by these 200 years of indoctrinations: just read the previous posts... I\'m french, I work around 50 hours a week and last year, my monthly wage was around 700€, I take 1.5 bath a day, I wash my teeth and the last 3 novels I read were written in english, my grand father was given a \"Croix de guerre\" in 1940 and as he was taken as an ostage by Germans in 1944 he told them to kill him the first because he was the older of the group. I can\'t juge someone by the drawing on his passport.
Are we trully able to have a \"bright and clever\" judgement on anything that is out of our every day line of sight?
As I don\'t know \"Chichi\", how can I trust him with the responsability of my futur?
I burn my \"carte d\'électeur\" 12 years ago: I don\'t have enought time to investigate in order to have an enlighted point of view. By the way, Frenchkid, une fois hors de la scolarité, plus personne n\'a le temps de le faire, et c\'est bien pour ça que la Democatie est devenue cette immonde blague.

lol Sorry, bad comparison!

Perhaps \"robot\" instead of animal -- preprogrammed and unthinking.

BTW, shame about the human thing...my grandfather claimed the barbecued meat from the street seller put away for graverobbing was the sweetest he\'d ever tasted.... lol

No one is criticising any one else here, at least I haven\'t seen any criticism. You appear to be defending against non existant attacks???

I am against the proposed constitution, not because I dislike Europe or Europeans, but because I want to remain part of a group I can identify with and I have no wish to see my culture further diluted.

Part of being human is a sense of \'belonging\'. I can\'t achieve that sense of belonging as a part of 25 countries, 25 cultures and 25 languages. Besides, we originally signed up to the whole deal as part of a trading partnership....that\'s fine. We can still trade...

Personally, another of my fundamental objections is the added tiers of beaurocrats and politicians that would have to be assembled to run the damn thing.....Politicians and beaurocrats I am prepared to insult directly, be they English, German, French or Klingon.:D

But please don\'t be upset by this, no one is having a \'dig\' at any nationality and I will instantly delete anything that \'crosses the line\'. It\'s just that some of us think that the proposed constitution was a good idea, and others disagree. It\'s as simple as that:D

It\'s funny... I\'ve read and listened to an on-going (for several years) debate among intellectuals about the existance of an \'European identity\', what defines it and how we should learn to embrace it. I\'ve nevered heard so much concentrated, refined nonsense ever!!

I doubt seriously that anyone here has a beef with the french... no one has posted any derogatory comments about any nationality here.

The problem with the European Union lies not in the peoples -- national rivalries have always existed and will continue to do so. The real problem lies with the uninformed individual who votes or does not vote as a result of bias and predjudice as opposed to knowledgeand insight. Those individuals exist within all borders

edit: BTW, this is psoted from my very new and very nifty laptop...the very first time it\'s been connected to the net!:D

Hehehe! Looks like the French have opened a can of worms that nearly 50% of them would like to see closed pretty sharpish!!

As for immigrants taking your jobs, well that\'s just tabloid bullshit! If France is anything like Britain, you will need to import SKILLED labour to address the nations shortcomings. We don\'t have enough trained people who want to be nurses, doctors or teachers and there are plenty of people who are who want to live here. What\'s so wrong with that? On one hand you are talking about a united federation of 25 countries, and on the other about not allowing \'foreigners\' in to work! Seems to me the only reason you want this treaty is so that the other 24 nations can prop up your floundering economy!!

You can\'t have your cake and eat it!
