Nah. It has been my experience that almost all Poli Sci Proffessors in this country don\'t really believe in democracy
They actually believe that only themselves and a few other proffessors are smart enough to actually be trusted to vote. Therefore, you (wisely) played right in to thier hands! Good Going on acing the paper.Legacy Account

I definetly think there is a european cultur. I mean imagine you were to be droped anywere in the world without knowing were you landed, you\'d reconizeimediatly were you to be in europe, people basically have the same culture, of course their are differences. But are you going to tell me all the 51 US states get along, and I\'m pretty sure hawaii dosn\'t have the same cultur as new-york. And from experience I can say people don\'t have the same culture in NYC then texas. So claiming that because of small diferences we can\'t be united seems a bit unfounded to me. I mean really if you want to get down to it like that, my county as different cultur then the north of the country. dosn\'t stop us from beeing all french

The country I live in shares borders with France, Germany, Austria and Italy. We speak French, German and Italian. But We are not part of the EU...
As far as I know my country has more ties (esp. financially) to the US than to Europe.
But It is right smack in the middle of it.
Btw if you look at a Euro-bill theres a small map of europe - the Hole in its center would be the country I live in.

On a serious note, someone mentioned that \'cheap foreign labor\' will destroy your economies. We were fed this same bowl of horsesh_t when they were trying to pass NAFTA. Let me tell you a little story...
A long time ago I was a laborer in the construction trade. As time went on and I started getting my own work I needed help. Most of the American labor was too expensive (and lazy) for me to make any money, so I would do what every other guy was doing. I would pick-up a few El Salvadoran day-laborers to work for me. I paid them well, bought them lunch, and only made them work a normal eight hour day. In return, they worked their asses off, made me money, and made more money for themselves IN ONE DAY then they would make in a week back home. People complain that they take our jobs, but that simply isn\'t so. By moving here in droves (millions) and doing jobs no one else wants they fill a need and in return create a further market for more goods and services in the areas they occupy. Instead of hurting the Long Island economy they have boosted it. Although this may be a terrible thing to say, the truth is in order for a person to MOVE UP the socio-economic ladder there must be someone else willing to move into the bottom. More Americans have moved into positions of skilled labor because the lower jobs were filled, and the people who filled them have JUST AS MUCH a chance to move up when the next wave hits. I\'m not trying to sound like some sort of elitist jerk, but this is simply how the world works. Take a long hard look at America before you start complaining about immigrants \'raining\' on your parade. Immigration and more importantly Intergration is the future, it\'s what keeps our capitalist juggernaught rumbling ever FORWARD.

The UK is built and kept running by immigrants form all over the world, traditionally people from the commonwealth and now from eastern europe. I work with a few Polish lads and they work a lot harder than the english lads who were doing the job before them. They see it as perhaps beneath them or not worth there time where as the Polish lads work hard all day and tell me it\'s a very good job and that the hours are excellent.
Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation mainly by the tabloids that tell us all immigrants are looking for free money healthcare and are all involved in organised crime. Of course there will be some like this but the majority come here to work and fill the jobs that others won\'t do.
I think our current level of involvement with Europe is just about right, any more and it will all go tits up.
