I\'ve been meaning to ask . . .

I discovered this about a year ago and LOVE IT - bought every issue since - it is ridiculously funny .. .

Should I be embarrassed?

(for those who\'ve never heard of it - it\'s a satirical British comic/humor magazine akin to Mad or Cracked or National Lampoon - definitely not for the sensitive or the easily disgusted)

As Roger Mellie would say..

B*llocks!
Ah..a British tradition. I have bought and kept every copy since 1985. It is definitely still going! This months copy contains the hilarious exploits of;

The Fat Slags
Spawny Get
Sid the Sexist
Anna Reksick
Roger Mellie (The Man on the Telly) and
Farmer Palmer

So you can see, not a lot has changed!

Check out:

www.viz.co.uk

But, as it says on the cover: Not Suitable for Children
:bouncy:

The major difference I can see between Viz and MAD or CRACKED, is that Viz actually looks funny!!!lollol

I wonder where I can get a look at one here in the states.....

It says inside the front cover of the last issue:
Any queries (from foreign types) about overseas availability should be e-mailed to intl-query@seymour.co.uk

US Postmaster -USPS 016666. Viz is published 0.8333 times per month for $24 per arse. Second Class postage paid at Champlain, New Jersey and additional mailing houses. Please send changes of address to Viz, 3330 Pacific Avenue, Suite 404, Virginia Beqch, VA 23451-2983.

God alone knows if that helpslol:bouncy:

I haven\'t seen Rude Kid for about a decade, but none of the characters seem to disappear for ever. Except \'Billy The Fish\'lol

I quite liked Billy the Fish!

One thing which made me laugh was the fact that many many years ago everyone started going on about how it wasn\'t as funny as it used to be. Viz then started quoting on the front cover: \"The magazine that\'s not funny anymore - and that\'s official\". Got to hand it to \'em!

Probably my favourite bits were the Top Tips pages. Some of them were ridiculously funny.

They are good at that..

The first issue I bought in about 1985/6 when I was at University was the first to be printed on proper paper etc and came with a commensurate price hike. The banner headline read:

New Man Size Size-New Man Size Price!

Got to give it to themlol

At one point it was in the top five best selling magazines in the UK!!. But that was when it was funnylol

For those of you in the states who are curious about it try Borders - I bought a copy in there once.

Also the British company Virgin carries it at their Megatore locations.

In NYC you shouldn\'t have any troubles - or any place where international magazines are carried in some quanity.

Also in NYC at the Barnes & Noble at Union Square I saw a few copies of Roger\'s Profanisaurus in the Humor section yesterday.

If you haven\'t seen this run, don\'t walk, to Amazon UK and order yourself one.

Keyword this ISBN to get it:
0752215078

In short, it\'s a thesaurus for obscenities and euphanisms for sexual acts and bodily functions and it is hillarious. Here\'s 2 quick examples:

put to the sword v. To make love to. \'From the Charing Cross Theatre where I saw Mr. Herbert give his Death of Icarus, to tea with the French Ambassador, and thence home to bed whereupon I put Mrs. Pepys to the sword before settling down to sleep.\' (from \'The Diary of Samuel Pepys\').

and

mini series 2. n. A pile of shite starring Jane Seymour.

Ha!! lol . . . and there\'s 3998 more entries . . .

Did I blow any chance of meeting a nice girl now???????

Mental age.....

Ah... Viz. I remember it well. Not read it for years tho. You can get Rogers Profanisaurus online - we download it to our PDA\'s at work :moon: :moon: :flip:

Only problem is, most of the words in there can\'t be repeated here.... <sigh> thankfully I\'ve not suffered from a bout of camels foot since the mid \'80s :innocent:

Ahem...and I quote..

camel’s foot n. Of leggings and tight jeans, those mounds and crevices generated in a ladies crotch when they are pulled up too tight. Also Camel’s toes. See also Twix lips.
lol

Before I forget...you can also play profanisaurus \'hangman\' on the Viz site which is an absolute hootlol:bouncy:

Just a wild idea..

It\'s also been at the back of my mind for a few weeks now that we could do with a, \'CMONosaurus\'. However, therein possibly lies the path to ruin as I can see Chern Ann doing a mass banninglol:flip:

Finn, I think you would like the \"Camel Toe\" song.

A morning \"radio show\" here in the states plays it all the time, it is sung to the tune of a Beach Boys song, and gives all the \'vernaculars\' of the above referenced condition....

Sounds like it would be right up your alley....so to speaklollol

You might be able to find a snippet of it on their web site.

http://www.bobandtom.com

Also check out the Camel Toe Museum!!!

The fairer sex....

Yup I\'m a girlie....well last time I looked anyway.

Twix lips - completely forgot about that one lol lol lol and of course, there\'s saddle bags....OH STOP IT!!!! :D

Thanks to the makers of stretch denim, camels foot was a nasty side affect and those skin tight trousers that Olivia Newton John wore at the end of Grease didn\'t help much either. I had a sky blue pair..... :flip: :flip:

PS There\'s a museum for camel toes ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
