TY guys. Starchaser, absolutely right about the scales. I painted this in two sessions, the skin first - got approval that it was good form the customer - then I watched the mini mentor video from Julien Casses ( I think that's how you spell his name) on the giant. It was a good watch for sure, but what I took away most was that I saw him get great results from using paint that wasn't thinned down as ridiculously as I was trying to use. He only thins maybe 1-2 parts water and uses good brush loading and brush control techniques. I think I was super guilty of trying to use really thin paint, maybe 3-5 parts water, but NOT controling the load on the brush or controlling it to well. So this was good practice for using a brush better. One year(ish) after joining and I think I am just now getting the hang a little better of how to load a brush properly for my purposes.
Tons and TONS to learn yet, but I think I made a breakthrough mostly because I can really track the difference in quality on this one from when I did the flesh to the rest. Hopefully a move forward for me.
Some of those mini mentor videos are great. I liked that Julien Casses one the most so far.
TY amigos! And a good point about the scales Starchaser. Thanks again.
