Just coming over here to share my thoughts on this....

I'm going periodically into the gallery, and vote and comment if I feel there is a need to do so, or If I see I can be helpful in some way. I tend to not vote neither comment, on ebay sales or "studio" miniatures, I don't think they should be posted at all here although I understand it is a way of earning money for this site or get exposed to a lot of potential "buyers".

There is a huge amount of people in this same case (I count me in too) lots of views and almost 20-30 votes.. or even less... I wish I'll reach 50 votes with, at least some of them... but it seems that the only way of doing that is working your way up either by contacting people all over or by having a special piece photographed or both. So let's work for that and go spiralling up!!

Also I want to say that there seem to be a lot of "snippers" out there, you cannot avoid them (or at least it seems so at the moment) so be ready for them because at higher number of votes is more likely to happen. I am sure those "snippers" are a mix of haters, accidents, commercial interests, and the like so I would just ignore them.... in any case they count as votes too so in the very end they are making a favour doing so.

Well said Maenas. We'll just keep on keeping on together. :)

I comment if I feel I have something relevant to say - either advice for newer painters or to let the artist know how their work has affected me. I'll vote on nearly every mini I view as a form of feedback, even if I don't comment.

I don't vote on WIP in the gallery - I'd rather you set up a thread. I also don't vote on vehicles because I've never painted one and have no frame of reference. And lastly I don't vote on full army shots because it's difficult to see the quality if the paintjob on the minis.

But that's just how I've decided to approach it.
