Voting low, is it possible to vote bellow 3?

Hey folks,
I recently joined CMON, and think its both a fantastic community and a rich source of advice, inspiration, and support.
I want to vote honestly, and sometimes a miniature is just plain badly painted. Now I don't want to be destructively critical and would always post a some advice or constructive criticism alongside a low vote, but I do think honesty is the best policy to help people progress. However, the website will simply not allow me to vote bellow 3 on any browser or operating system that I use (Firefox or Chrome, Windows or Android).
Is there either a technical or an ideological reason for that?
All the best,
Matt

No reason I can see.
I've just tested the possibility on one of my own figures and seen no problem.

Thanks for checking Dragonsreach. I still can't do it (and this has persisted ever since I joined), if I try to post a comment with a 1 or 2 I get this message"Error 500: Indirect modification of overloaded element of CHttpSession has no effect" either that or I use the sidebar quick-vote and get bounced back to the image page with my vote unrecorded. If I try and vote 10 without a comment (which would be exceedingly rare too) I get the same result: my vote isn't logged.

of course it's possible. There is an enthusiastic group called "Snipers" who do it all the time even if the image deserves at least a 8+ (independent if you like it or not, if you like the minis then it'd be 10).
So if they don't have a problem you shouldn't have too.

10Ball: I'd sooo like to try it on one of your pic, but I already voted them all :p

Well, I've tried Internet Explorer too, but with no luck. That's three different browsers on two different operating systems:curse!:. May be it's just me!? :shut-mouth:
Thanks for trying guys.

Really MAXXxxx? Boy, that's depressing! What's wrong with someone that they would waste their time doing that.
Any how, if someone does no the root of my problem, please let me know. In the meantime I'll just refrain from voting on poor paint jobs I guess (it's not like I have huge amounts of sage advice to offer anyway).

Matt's issue is leaving a comment with a rating of 1 or 2. If everyone else's test is just to click the vote number at the top right, then that's not what this guy's issue is. I was going to try the comment with vote on one of my own figures, but looks like it won't give me the option. It just says 'can't rate your own' where the score normally is.

If anyone (DR, ten ball, BFK, MAXXxxx) wants to test out leaving a comment with a rating of 1 or 2, you're welcome to try it on this figure of mine (Golborak)

As I said, you can't try it on your own figure. I don't care if it drops the score on this guy and won't be offended.

Yep , don't work. Voted & comment on baileys link and nothing.
Bailey it was strange voting a 2, usually it's 9 & 10,s lol

GreenOne

I paint my thumb.
I consider myself a harsh voter but giving under 3 sounds unnecessarily harsh.. My first mini here garnered a 3.2, it was worth 3.2 and I felt like 3.2..
A 3 means 'at least you tried' in my book, its normally the lowest I would give unless it obvious he didn't even try or it's so bad I feel offended or depressed.
You can dilate or contract the vote brackets and still be honest and critical where it counts, ie voting generously up to 5 and very critically past 7, that's how I do it and I sleep fine lol
Anyway just m2c, I understand its very very subjective, I just read that you cared about honesty and wanted to chip in.

I appreciate your point GreenOne, and certainly allocating less than 3 would be rare (and as it transpires, impossible with an associated comment), so I will almost certainly adopt your approach.

I'll give you an example of when a 1 is warranted. Someone photographs their entire Army, and puts the photos of each and every spearman/shield bearer, complete with out of focus shots, poor lighting, and the background is their computer and keyboard and Super Gulp soda. The first few minis get a 3, after I realize what is happening, and that the user has posted their entire crappily painted Army, it's 1....1....1...1

Just wanted to give my 2 cents of how I personally feel and approach the voting system, and I got no problems in voting 1 or 10 (my vote is just my personal point of view and "you" have put a picture on the gallery for a reason isn't it?) although I am very new to this, and sometimes your heart pushes more than your head or "viceversa" but I tried to be consistent on my few votes casted so I try to assign the works on the following scheme:

10: Impressive work and overall feeling of the mini shocked me for whatever good reason/s
8-9: Very good work, and I liked something very much or at least one or more things draw my attention and make me feel "Hey that's nice!"
5-7: Good work, nice techniques, nice colour schemes (one or more in different grades of application)
4: Basic painting and some techniques starting to appear, still there can be something wrong or things to improve
3: Basic painting in place and maybe one or two of the problems below..
2: There is something beginning to work in here! Still some of the below problems present
1: Lots of problems, no techniques at all, painted from the pot, bad picture, wrong focus, lightning, colour schemes, textures, visible moldings lines and casting problems ... etc

And on the bug issue, I also had the problem of the votings, but cannot be more specific. Will try it
