Sadly (I suppose) I only have approximately 260 comments. I always kinda figured I was doing you moderator guys a favor though by not commenting on everyting I voted on :duh:

At one point something happened that made a lot of votes count twice (or at least that\'s what I think it was) and then that error was fixed and vote counts went back to normal again, so that\'s most likely what happened! You only lost the votes you never made!

no i had about 6000 votes. I watched the meter for almost a month or so.

If you click on \"Browse gallery\" in the right column of the main page there\'s a list box labelled \"Order by\" where you can choose \"Your comments\". Then click \"Go\" and count the number of pages and multiply by 10.

I have commented on 310.

Comments: 2405 (determined this by sorting by \"my comments\" in the gallery)

So about 1 comment for every 7-8 votes. I\'m sure I could do better

Actually, only about 140 comments. I try to limit my comments to where I have some advice to offer, I\'m particularly inspired by a piece or the submitter has specifically asked for feedback. Not being one of the better painters here I find that there\'s little in the way of advice that I can offer most of the time. However, I do know how useful feedback and advice in the comments can be and wish I got more (hint, hint)

For me it\'s not so much a vote until you drop scenario but how valuable a comment I can make without being either
A: A Fanboy (been there) or
B: Sounding like and A**e

My other issue regarding comments is that most of the time when I see something I feel like commenting it\'s usually a very old submission so I feel it\'s inappropriate to comment as the artist has probably moved on. Do any of you comment on older submissions or how would you feel about receiving comments on you older stuff?

I receive comments on my older stuff every now and then (at least on some of them) and I\'m always happily surprised. It gives me a chance to look back at what I have done before and see both the qualities these older paintjobs had and also the progress I\'ve made since.

So, don\'t let the fact that the submission is old stop you. Some users may not be active any more, but there\'s probably more that still are.

Amen to that! I\'m very happy to know my older stuff is still getting seen once in a while. Granted, offering me technical advice based on those paint jobs might be redundant, but you never know... some bad habits I have yet to kick

I am definately a fanboy commenter. Most of my comments tend not to be constructive, as I am generally inspired to comment on awesome minis, so any advice I could possibly give is redundant.

Thanks for your comment treide, I shall return the favour. I counted up my votes and I acatually have 34, so I was underestimating a bit, but a couple of the comments are from myself iirc.

I was thinking, should I start a \"Comment trade\" post? Everyone who posts there has to comment on one of the images by everyone else that has previously posted in the thread. Dunno, might be a pointless excercise, as the comments might be of less value than spontaneous comments. It might give people#s galleries more exposure though, especially the older pics.

Err, 37 votes and no comments... although I do try and put feedback in the forums from time to time and most that I have voted on are ones people have put in the discuss submissions forum. It\'s not great though is it?

And I haven\'t uploaded any pics to my gallery either. Perhaps I have missed the point of this site somehow!
