Voting?

What is the deal with the voting on this site? After logging on from a wild weekend I noticed an unusual amount of 9’s & 10’s being posted and since going through and voting on at least half of them I’ve noticed that none of my votes have counted. Is it me or has acorn taken over this site?

The site use cached pages for the miniature posts. They will get updated now and then, but it may take a while before you see an updated version of the page where your vote is counted. This is to reduce the number of calls to the database. But, the votes are registered. If you go back to the minis you've voted on a few hours later you will see your votes being showed.

The 9s and 10s sounds like you got through the post GD UK/IT batch .

What makes you think your vote wasn't taken into account? I did some voting and it feels like ususal.

I've gone back and checked some of the pages I voted on and they still hadn't updated and that was well before I posted this thread.

You were right Ritual that most of those were in the GD\IT lineup.

Anyways if they show up then great.

That is how the site should be working, I might add... Of course, there could be some sort of glitch. There's been some maintainance work on the site recently.

It has to be a glitch from the new updates. I've never had any problems with my votes before, but I've done this test. I've just voted on this item:

In the little side window of the next page that comes up that shows the votes averages and number I get a question mark for the average, but the number of votes show up correct.
If I log out and then go back I get the same results.

The "?" comes up when the mini has few votes. But your vote should be taken into account. Also, you can only vote once a day.

There does seem to be something wrong, though, as all minis submitted today or yesterday (after the site was down for maintainance) has 1 vote and 0 views.

That is what comes up on the page. If I vote on it it should show two votes. I just voted on it so you should see more that 1 vote and 0 views.

Since you just voted on it it would be a while until I or anyone else would see that, as we would get the cached page from when you or someone before you opened up that page. But, as that mini was posted yesterday it seems unlikely that it would have 1 vote and 0 views still.

I think that is kind of my point? Almost everything I've voted on was voted on tdoay was posted on the 25th and later so it should have a higher or lower scoring, but what I've pulled up is coming up today with 1 vote and no views which doesn't seem right. Even if I wait a few hours for my vote I should still be seeing others votes

My point was just that if you had just voted on a mini (and everything worked as it should be) I would not see it immediately as I would see a cached page. A while later, though, both you and I should be able to see an updated page where your vote would be counted, but this seems to not be the case at the moment.
