hi, i got this modle a while ago, and have been slowly making progress on it, i have decided to paint each part of the model separately and one at a time.

so this w.i.p. might be a bit slow to finish, as i am a slow painter and this is my first w.i.p. on here, but i hope to update every couple of days on week days and every day over the weekend.

so here are the pics so far, i have already done a wee bit on the ginger fellow (the name escapes me at this time)

what i mihgt need your help on later is the base but im not far enough into the project to think about that yet.

comments and critisisms are very welcome

sorry i will post the pictures in a minute as there loading onto my computer wrong at the moment

cheers, paul

just an update, i am gettin near to finishing the first dwarf, just lots of little detail to do, should be done soon,

this morning i bought one of the new imperial guard commisars, released with all the other apocolypse stuff, i am really impressed with the model, and it looks great, so i will try to keep you up to date with how that goes as well

yeh, all i have done is primed the commisar black and he looks so good, the qualty of the casting on the model is so good, and its gunna be so much fun to paint...i hope

and its not to badly priced compared to most gw stuff, so i would advise anybody who wants to paint a cool model to get one

cheers, paul

i haven\'t made much progess on the dwarf as i have been indulging in my new model (the commisar), i am trying to get all the large areas over with and I am trying to keep the highlights on the black quite dark.i am really happy with how the red has turned out and it is such a contrast to that big area of black.

Off to a great start :)
Nice to see crisp photography showing all the detail on him...

Might have to get him when I finish the 3 commissars I have on the go (I like commissars) lol

PS. Is that GW reds? Nice n bright :)

Somehow, the sculpt of the Dwarf is not my thing... painting\'s cool, though.
The Commissar, however, is made of win. Can\'t wait to see him finished and how the contrasts will work out.

hi, i am still making good progress on the commisar, but not on the dwarf....i got a bit bored of him

although i might start slowing down as im back to school tommorow so i won\'t be able to work as much as i have been.

@ DaN- the red is scab red followed by the foundation red then blood red then 50/50 blood red + blazing orange, and finally watered down blazing orage. it worked out really well compared to my usual rubbish looking reds, as i now started using the fondation red, which i find really useful

Looking good so far. Might just be he photo but the top of the breastplate looks a bit light just above the eagle.

@Baz - yeah I think it\'s a light spot from flash or lighting on the metallics.

@Wooton - I think it\'s looking fantastic at the mo - I mean, the blending on that other ones looks like it had about 50 layers lol

Why not go for a black or dark coloured book, similar to the Imperial Guard booklet that GW released via the Black Library?

How about a really deep, dark green?

EDIT: Just thought... How do you turn those pages with such a huge bionic power fist? lol

that is a good point about how he turns the pages
i imagine he puts it in his other hand then turns the page with his normal one.

actually that is too boring, i think he chucks the book up in the air, whips out his sword and as it is mid flight he carefully turn the page with the sword then catches the book again after putting his sword back...is that outrageous enough?lol

YEY!!!

i have finished it, and it has taken me less time than usual without the standard slipping, i am tring to get fatser at painting.i learnt a lot in painting this model, as before i knew inks and glazes were important but now i have realised that they can be used for so much more, like i used it on the black to dull it down, and on the reds and skins, and feel i am a better painter now

i really like this model and am keeping it for know, although knowing me i will prob put it on ebay soon,
