I\'m pretty sure they were the original citadel inks, in which case, yes, great; just like the citadel washes, which is what they are, were, back in the 80s, although I still have some from back then, so those ones still are are, even if they aren\'t what the GW ones are now. I think.

Others have posted here to say they work fine, but they tend to be glossy.

W&N inks back in the 80\'s were the shellac ones still available now and not the ones GW sold. (Still available via CotD\'Arms).
If W&N are producing water based ones then they should be better and more \'friendlier\' on brushes than the shellac ones.

Hi guys, info may be a little old but in White Dwarf 71 (1985) in the Tabletop Heroes feature (predecessor to \'Eavy Metal) the sub-title is \"Think Ink\" with accompanying picture of W&N inks (refered to as resin-based (Shellac) drawing inks). Recommended for use as you\'d expect with extra info to seal oil paints with acrylic medium before use.
I\'ve only used the GW inks & found them useful but have never managed to brush varnish over them without lifting it, would recommend a spray instead. No use for gaming minis if you don\'t varnish, they rub off too quickly. B.
PS I don\'t have encyclopaedic knowledge of WD back issues, I was gifted a copy of #71 just this week
