Hello,

This is my new mini. First finished rackham mini. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. If you have any comments or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

cool paint work, love the green armour. You should do more Rackham.. I need to break open the dozen or so Rackham blister packs I have locked away.

The armor and skin are both very nice. The blade looks good from what I can see, but since it\'s seen from edge-on it\'s tough to tell

The cape seems a bit flat to me though, and I have trouble liking cork bases, but that\'s just me.

All in all great work!

Cool paintjob! I really like the colour of the armour.

The thing about cork bases is that it very easily becomes too obvious that cork is what\'s been used (and to an extent, that is the case here). I would have used a slightly bigger base and embedded the piece of cork more into the surrounding groundwork, so that it loses that \"stuck on\" appearance that sort of gives it away for what it really is.

Thanks for your suggestions. I guess I will redo my base. Anyone have any ideas of what I should do with it? I suck at bases.

I think cork works, but as I mentioned, you\'d need to cover it up a bit more, especially around the edges. If you have access to Vallejo\'s products you might look into getting some Sandy Paste. That is an excellent product for just this type of thing.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I am redoing the base. I should be putting up the new pics in a day or so. Thanks for taking a look and I promise that you will all be very pleased with the new base

Any chance of you telling us how you did the armour, too? It looks like you did green washes over a yellow or gold base. ???

Here is my recipe for the armor.

Basecoat: vallejo model color (VMC) Middlestone - it is a warm brown color

Shadows done with adding increasing amounts of Chaos black to the middle stone. 3 or 4 shadows, each with more black.

Highlights were done with adding increasing amounts of white until pure white.

Glaze of VMC Emerald. Very dilute, about 90% water. I would wash it all over the armor and then soak up any large pools of water so I would not get any rings.
