Here in Sweden an artist built a huge wooden structure out of scrap wood on a cliff at the ocean side. The government demanded that it should be removed because it was not safe for the public and the artist had no permit for building it. He then proclaimed the area surrounding the construct a sovereign state and then declared war on Sweden. lol
I\'m not sure how the situation has unfolded, but the state has a couple of thousand citizens and they\'re still officially at war with Sweden, allthough no hostilities have taken place so far...

theres something like that here
in the Florida Keys theres a sovereign nation not many people knew existed. Its called Conch Republic, and their motto is \"We seceded where others failed\" there weren\'t any fatalities but this country refused to let people in without a passport and refused safe harbor to some marines to train.
it was in the 80\'s and now they celebrate their independence day in a rather unique way, they get in barges and throw rotten fruit at each other.
for real, you can\'t make that stuff up.
I still giggle at it, i really want the shirts they have with their flags.
i wouldn\'t mind visiting and getting a few overripe tomatoes in

Yeah, the celebration is the re-enactment of their war for independence where their \"fleet\" fought a Coast Guard vessel by throwing fruit at it. The whole thing started in the 80\'s when the causeway to the keys had a border checkpoint installed by the federal govt. The citizens reasoned that it made themanother country.
