Hey everyone..well here\'s my first WIP on here. This will be my first attempt at making a dead tree. I thought it would be cool to depict a scene where a vampire is making the dead rise with his banner as he rides towards his castle. Tell me whatcha think so far.

great idea....you should have more undead behind him rising up as well. the nearest one to him almost all the way out of the ground. the furthest away barely out of the ground.

looking really good so far, it might be nice to have ome sort of water effect like a murky muddy puddle that hes splashing through

Ok here\'s a couple pics of where I\'m at so far on the tree...I\'m considering adding some small twigs to it and maybe thinning a few of the branches. Just a reminder this is my first time scuplting anything so dont be too harsh

t could do with some more texture.. currently it\'s a littleplain and doesn\'t quite fit the undead dark ded twisted theme your heading for... It\'s easy enough to do bark texture just lots of lines in the putty with a knife..

Definitly pinnng in a few small branches will make a lot of difference and add mre realism and life to it...

I\'m liing the idea of the whole piece . Good luck

Well I have a few up to date pics. After scrapping the first tree and making another one I\'m much happier with the way things are turning out. The skeletons are from a friend that was kind enough to give me some of his old skeles. Enjoy

K got the tree painted but I\'m not happy on the color quite yet. I\'ve done a wash of black on it twice and tried doing some shading on it. Anyone have any advice on what else needs to be done with it??

looking good, don\'t know what you have planned paint-wise for the ground, but I think it would look cool if the grass was dying around the skelies

Thanks for the suggestion Thomgirl!! Glad someone finally gave me some advice. I had plans on doing something like you're talking about. The color of the grass just doesnt match the scene yet to me. I'm going to try to finish the grass, skeles and possibly the tree this weekend. I'm still undecided on the color for the vamp though. So far I'm considering a dark red color for the armor and of course the horse has to be black..still deciding whether to give it red or scorpion green eyes.

Hey everyone..so here\'s a quick update on what I got accomplished this weekend and today. The horse is basically just basecoated all over with the excception of a few highlights on the horse and a black wash on the armor and cape. I\'m attempting at making his hooves look like the warlock mounts in WoW but with a more undead look about it instead of the fel horse. The ground hopefully is simulating that the skeles are emerging from the soil as well simulating the grass dying *thanks for the suggestion thomgirl *The ruts in the grass will be where the horse has left hoof tracks. I plan on improving the affect on it somehow..But hope you like and C&Cs are always appreciated.

very cool idea with the hooves, I think it will make it look great. It would be alot of work but very cool effect to do some osl from the hooves on the tree and skeletons. nothing hugely involving but maybe something simple just to give that lambent impression from the horse.

The skeletons look great too, maybe its the pic but on them I think adding a few calculated \"white\" highlight on them would really make the pop. But i think that would be an easy thing to go too far with, but hey just throwing it out there.

I like the piece as a whole.

If you do decide to do OSL, please make it from a night-time/moonlight perspective and be sure to lengthen the shadows on the tree and skellies.

I am patiently waiting to see this one done.

Though I should probably continue with one of my three...lol.

Hey guys/gals. Here\'s a quick update on things. I\'m almost done with the horse. Have a few more spots have to finish up. But I couldnt wait and wanted to share my progress..

btw thanks for the comments monkey and jesterz..I\'m probably going to try for a little osl although I\'ve never done it before and I had a hard time making the hooves look like they\'re glowing. But I\'ll try my best and hope all turns out ok.

Hmm, are you leaving the tree black?
I think it\'d look good with a really dark brown highlight.
So it looks more like a tree, with the brown and all, but still really dark and twisted, maybe even dying.
