Well I have been a bit lax lately, so time to dust off the brushes and do some painting! Plus I have a new camera so lots of pictures. I pre ordered the wargames factory romans back before they were released, I have painted a few but will make a special effort with this one.

Well, you're off to a start! The little fella seems to have hobbit feet!

Keep at it, the camera seems to take some fantastic pics!

That's a pretty ropey looking mini Tercha! Are you going to blast through a full box to get them on the table quickly for gaming or do you intend a full effort paintjob? Not that I have much room to talk when it comes to painting lumpy bumpy bits of crap but at least mine have age on their side, these are a new release aren't they? I'd be pleased to get one in a Christmas Cracker mind, as long as they were budget ones :D

Get some paint on & sell him to me!

Cheers, B.

Max effort on this one, and discipline, I intend to do a bit every day and put my new camera through its paces. I have done a few of them and they didn't turn out too bad, and yes they are cheap, but I think a bit of paint will make a lot of difference, paint in the right places is the trick though! and it will make a change from space marines on here! LOL
BPI: I am not good enough to sell minis, but if you like it when I have finished daubing paint on it I'll post it to you.

Hi Tercha, I just meant that your paintwork needs to be really good to convince me this is a mini worthy of purchase, rather than a bog standard budget trooper for dipping ready for a massive army.

And anything that's not a Space Marine makes for a refreshing change, dead right :D

Cheers, B.

jeez, how'd you get enough light in your hotel room. The places I stay are all dark and seedy!

It'll be a feat to make this thing look decent. Can't say I'm a fan of wargames factory.

Scutum Blason

After a lot of searching on the net this is the only contemporary colour picture of a legionnaires shield I can find, for the early republican roman period
View attachment 2879
from a mosaic in a villa in ancient Praeneste near Rome, that is often dated as "second century BC" or "c150

It could be a legionaries or an auxiliary, impossible to tell, and of course roman mosaics were superb so I am happy to use it as a reference.

Now I know there is a wealth of knowledge out there .....any other examples that have eluded me?

Aha, so that's why you didn't paint his thighs with flesh colour, I was wondering! I had a quick cast about for shields but just ended up at recreationist & blacksmithing sites. Lots of examples of shield designs but none archeological :(

the shields look awsome, and my hats off to you because I utterly hate their products. Warlord games is it for me:).
