Warhammer Audio Discs

First, I am a big fan of Audiobooks, as I drive almost an hour one way to work. I have listened to the unabridged version of the Lord of the Rings several times. ( all in all, about 50 CDs total.) I have just bought the original Dune (20 CDs)

My question is would anyone be interested in an audio version of any of GWs rule books, or codexes, or if they don\'t have it yet, some of the Black Library\'s best novels?

I ask this here, in the hopes that someone who knows someone might get this rolling or show me what a dumb idea this is.

I love audio books, but I\'m not sure if GW codexes or rulebooks would work - actually I\'m pretty sure it wouldn\'t. I have never read a Black library book in my life, so I can\'t comment on that. But what exactly is it you\'re thinking about? Recording it? I think you\'ll run into copyright issues soon then.... also, I don\'t know if anyone would be prepared to read something that is presumably pretty long aloud and record it...

Black Library is their line of Warhammer fiction. I would love to hear the Eisenhorn trilogy by Dan Abnett on CD. As for codexes and the rules, especially when something new comes out, I think it would be great to listen to it when it is convenient. As it is, when my stepson and I are riding to a Tournament, I am constantly asking him to read the rules about multiple close combat or what Tau battle suits can do, etc. It may not sound interesting to some, but I have listened to Andrew Weil lecture on how to eat healthy, and believe me, if that will sell, anything can.

My hope was that someone at GW would see this or hear about it and say \"wow, another way to make money without having to do anything original\"

I guess in the end, I could get one of those digital recorders and make audio files for my own use.
BTW what is your favorite audio book or reader?

My personal favorites in my collection are the Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends read by Peter McNicol.

I doubt that listening to GW\'s rulebooks and/or codexes would really work. How would it be read? But i would be curious to listen to them if they actually existed! :flip:

The ultimate entertainment, however, is to paint miniatures while listening to a good audio book, if you ask me! I have listened to the entire lord of the rings trilogy while painting, and also all five of the harry potter books, among others. Yes, I did love the potter books.. shame on me? :)

Eh, they\'re pretty good, for youth fiction. Better than most books written for adults too. No shame.

Don\'t you find yourself \"tuning out\"? I\'ll put on a good CD and several highlights later be annoyed that I missed my favorite song because I didn\'t even hear it.

Not really, no.. it works for me. I have tried watching a movie and painting at the same time too, though, and that was impossible. Because you can\'t actually watch the movie and the miniature you\'re painting at the same time. But listening to a book and painting works for me. I do tend to get a little bored and restless if I only paint with no music and/or book at the same time - but if I\'m listening to a book I can paint for 10 hours straight, no exaggerating :)

i like listening to the commentries on dvds while cleaning up models and converting them. that way, you don\'t have to look at the screen to get the full benefit or waste 2 hours of only listening to the commentry

Darth, it\'s funny you mention Peter MacNichol. I\'m pretty sure he did them after the Dragonslayer movie and way before he did Ally McBeal. I would also recommend the Dune Prequels , Butlerian Jihad, Machine Crusade, and the Battle of Corrin. And yes, the Harry Potter books are also great as they keep getting better while the movies keep gettting further from the books due to length.

Everything in life is a trade off. I guess that is why I am in the 30 something percentile.
