Does anyone know, Is the Warhammer Fantasy rule book about to change any time soon??

The reason I ask, Im quite new to actually playing games, had a few starter session in my local store and 2 games with a friend, but that was 40K. Anyway the GW staff guy suggested i buy a 40K rule book, this was about 6 weeks ago, so I did, then I find out that the rules are changing and I just shelled out ££ for a new ,now old, edition!

So ive decided to move away from 40K and on to Fantasy, but before i buy the rules i would like to know, are they changing any time soon and how do you guys \'in the know\' find out when things are changing??

Thanks for your help

Alex

There was a new edition of fantasy last year I believe... or was it the year before... time flies.

Anyway it\'s not in any danger of being updated for a good few years yet.

Which store was it that you got your book from as that staffer needs a good bitchslapping? They occasionally do a trade in thing when it gets close to new release time so I\'d take it back there and explain what happened, they might be able to sort you out with something.

Hi Undave,

It was the GW store in Stoke (hanley).

I will see if I can do a trade in, does it matter that the book is out of its cellophane wrapping?

Gald to hear the Fantasy book won\'t be changing for a while :) I like the look of the Chaos Force and i hear they are having some new models for Chaos near the end of the year.

Thanks for your reply

It was September 2006. So that makes it due for replacement around 2011.
[/Cynical.] :D

As for buying the 40k Book go back to GW and talk to the manager as basically that is shoddy behaviour on behalf of the store staff.
They have been told to Defer customers from buying the current edition in order to boost sales during the release. Our local store was publicising the new edition in April.

I still have an ancient hardback edition of Warhammer fantasy and slightly older hardback edition of warhammer 40,000.

Both are full of little liner notes from when certain rules changed.

@ Dragonsreach, Nice to hear the Fantasy rules won\'t be changing until 2011, thanks for the info

As for the 40K book, I tried explaining about the purchase today and askied if I could part exchange it for the new version when its out and was told that without a receipt, unfortunately that i couldn\'t...Im rumaging around looking for the darn thing now!

@ Squidders, If I cant get an exchange I will have to follow suit and just make alterations to the old rule book. I\'ve heard there was a PDF set of the changed rules published somewhere on the net, wether thats correct or not im not sure!?

The only PDF I\'ve heard of, was one that GW legal department are pursuing as breach of Copyright/Intellectual Property. (Once again)

As it is there will be an Erratta up on GW website within 2 months for the New Edition.

@ Swordwind...Yeah he did repeatedly try to get me to buy White Dwarf, but i backed away from that as i figured i\'d pick them up when there was bits in that took my fancy. Have you had a similar experience in there?

@ Dragonsreach, I found some of the rules in 40K that were changing through a google search but it seems more like opinion and speculation rather than hard fact
