Hi Chaps,
I\'ve just finished this giant for fun, and I enjoyed painting him very much. I can thoroughly recommend him too you all, great sculpt and a fun project with all the extra\'s you get with him.

My main question is;

I would like to know what you really think of him, good or bad but constructive comments please, so I can improve my painting for next time.

Since the rushed photo\'s shown, which were taken prior to varnishing for a fun competition, I have worked on a few rough bits, and tuned him up a bit :D

Many thanks
krom

I paint my thumb.
Awesome :D
The skin tone are very realistic, metallics on the weapon are very nice also.
Only thing I could is the pale grey beard, it looks a lot more cartoony and stands out a bit too much so it\'s hard not to focus on it.

Ah thanks greenone, I can see what you mean, maybe I should tone it down a bit.

hi Kester, I used the Andrea flesh set for the skin, its very fast drying and a bit plastic in texture, it needed slow dry added to make it workable, I\'m trying vallejo flesh now, its much easier to use

I have to say I always really look forward to your miniatures. You get this gritty character in to them that seem to fill them with life! I think it\'s that you do skin tones and faces so well.

Criticism? Well just continue improving and working on your technique and I echo the comment about the beard.

I\'ll echo the comment about the beard as well. Maybe a more brownish grey (50/50 Graveyard Earth and Codex Grey basecoat, maybe). I think that some weathering on the pants might help out too.

Other than that, he\'s brilliant! (and that\'s just me being nit-picky like you asked :D ) Stunning face!

good stuff mark, he\'s quite the beast! the shading seems a little off under his bottom lip

i agree to a certain degree with the beard. like scott said, a small bit of brown added to it should help

Wow, thanks for all the comments, much appreciated :D

Freak, yes I saw the bottom lip after i\'d rushed to take the photo\'s, and have sorted it, cheers.

Spacemunkie, thanks for the reply, I take your comments as the yardstick as I know you take no prisoners, so thanks very much, and i\'d be pleased with some more comments if you have time, and be brutal or is that lazy living in NZ softening you up:D

Avelorn, your making me blush  its that sort of comment that makes it all worth painting in the first place, cheers

mattsterbenz, thanks for the colour idea i\'ll try that one out, as I just guess, I\'m not too good at colour mixing.

I would take Spacemunkie\'s comment one further and add some stubble on his chin in grey... It might be just me but they look like a pair of balls.

The rest to me is perfection though.

lol I did put stubble on his chin, it must be the light reflection, but he does have a balls like chin now you mention it :D

As most have mentioned the beard to me stands out too much, some brown shading would help this.

I really love the skin but i would like to see it dirtied up a little, some scrapes and bruises. Just some battle damage, same with the pants, a little wear and tear. I just feel a giant wouldnt have pants so clean :p hehe.

Really like it though, the leather effects on certain areas of the pants are great as is the cow

Your right there Cleezy, to be honest after getting the skin right, I was scared to mess it up. But I love your idea, I will be doing another soon, and hopefully give him the full weatered treatment
:D
