Warhammer rulebook Online?

Surely you can order it from Games Workshop direct? Or wayland games, maelstrom, or whichever online retailer you prefer?

If you're talking about a digital copy, then no - there isn't anywhere you can get it. GW hate technology in all of its forms :( they don't even have web forum...

GW's actually got a section in their IP policy where they say they don't produce *any* of their publications electronically. Your best bet would be to look on eBay for a second hand copy if you're after keeping costs down.

Which really sucks. I have stacks of old White Dwarfs (over 8 years worth) that I wish GW would publish in cd-rom or dvd-rom format. I guess I need to make the time to scan each issue into pdf format and burn them to disc myself.

Is that all?

Yes. I was introduced to GW in 2001 and started subscribing to White Dwarf. Since the painting articles are all I wanted (and they started posting masterclasses on their website), I couldn't justify the cost of the magazine to the wife anymore so I did not renew my subscription when it ran out last year.

I think the earliest WD I bought is 150 ('92) and I got my first subscription with 169 ('94) been collecting ever since :s But I agree, when they dropped the proper masterclasses I think they lost an essential part of the magazine.

I know I've seen you old school GW fanboys  on several different forums refer to articles from past issues of WD I would love to get my hands on, if for no other reason than to grow my reference library.

I think GW should offer archived issues of WD on disc. They could sell individual issues, or whole years on one disc, or even indiviual articles (and charge a king's ransom I'm sure!)

I'm just a bit anorakish with keeping onto them - the other half isn't impressed for sure! A compilation CD of the articles would be brilliant though. Not too bothered about battle reports or releases, but the painting & modelling articles and features - especially if it had a half decent index!

This day and age, an online version of the rules only seems like common sense. Most people play near a computer, have an i-pad or an ipod touch. Wouldn't it be great to have the rules nearby and to be able to quick reference with good search tools?

Idiotic! It's almost as if they are welcome pirating of the rules online.

+1, with bells on.

Apparently, PP are releasing a free app soon that will have all the cards from the army starter boxes, with the option to d/l faction decks for 7bucks each. The march of technology...

on the GW web site if you are a member they have a white dwarf archive, it's pretty sweet, not comprehensive but there is a fair bit of stuff up there.

Yeah. Not seeing it. All I see under White Dwarf Archive is a single masterclass for painting a dark elf dreadlord. I think they took down all the other masterclasses when they figured out 2/3s of those articles in the 'Eavy Metal Masterclass book were free on the site and the book wasn't selling.

The other rumour is that the whole paint line is changing and they've been taken done in preparation of this

No S$&t? Changing their paint line? Wonder what the change will be? Dropper bottles and adding $1.00 USD per bottle?

It's currently only a rumour and there's quite a bit of it on the internet. The biggest one is that they're going to keep foundation paint & washes and add "Base Coat" and "Layer" style paints. The existing colours would be replicated in these but be given different names. However (and this is a BIG disclaimer) nobody actually knows much more than GW have said that they're going to do something that's as revolutionary as when they released the foundation paints and washes this year.

Just got done reading the specultion on Dakka Dakka. Pretty funny stuff there. In a nutshell the rumors are: price increase, less paint, maybe/maybe not new bottles, discontinuation of favorite colors, introduction of new colors, specially formulated thinner, and it will be called Finecoat!

Agreed, pretty much it in a nutshell! I'm just going to wait until it's actually announced which is likely just before the 25th (when new WD arrives). The only thing that I am very confident in saying is that it's unlikely to turn us all into Picasso overnight :D

The link you posted was the first picture I have seen. GW following in Reaper and P3 footsteps by switching to a triad system seems the most plausible. Which means at a minimum, new colors and rebadging of previous colors. It just remains to be seen how much they will change of their current line to fit into the new system, if indeed they release a new system.
