Well during my visit to England I found the time to go and visit Warhammer World in Nottingham since it\'s a 40 min train journey away. For those that aren\'t familiar with Warhammer World, it\'s located at the GW HQ in Nottingam and houses a huge gaming area, a massive store, miniature gallery and a very reasonably priced bar (bad news).

Being a painter my main interest was the gallery, it LOOKS very small, but then again, so are miniatures.. There are literally 1000\'s of minis in there painted by the \'Eavy Metal team. These are the minis you see appearing on box art and in the White Dwarf. It\'s pretty obvious they paint for photography (in fact the guy in there confirmed it too) using very high contrast and sometimes just a single, strong highlight.
Anyway enough blabbing, I took FAR TOO MANY pictures:

Yep, there\'s a lot of pictures, I think I spent around 3-4 hours in there (2 taking pictures, 2 looking with my eyes!).
Some pictures of interest in there. All the new Empire range is there as well as the Dark Angels stuff. I love the DA stuff bar the biker.. far too busy. I didn\'t really know where to look when I was checking it out.
After the gallery I had a wander around the gaming area and watched a huge LOTR campaign and checked out the gaming tables (The Cities of Death table is REALLY well made...).
Then hit the bar for some lunch. Cool staff, decent prices and a bar full of \'eavy metal painters. Unfortunately, I didn\'t gain the courage to bother them since they were in the midst of what looked like their xmas meal.
Then to the shop; well I bought far too much (about £100 worth) and spent a good amount of time talking with the staff there about \'eavy metal, painting styles and new releases. He mentioned that in the next few months GW would announce some new paints (or a range) adding colours with better pigments (mainly yellows and reds). I noted it was a good move since Privateer Press were boasting such properties with their P3 range to which he replied;
\"Who are Privateer Press?\"
I found this pretty odd since I thought of him as a gamer not just a GW employee... oh well, sounds like they brain washed him or something. Hello? You know Mike McVey, right?
Actually I remained polite and just explained they were another miniature company producing gaming systems, miniatures and paints. Anyway, I\'m looking forward to seeing what GW bring paint-wise. I can see it now though: \"Master Paint Range\" with a price tag to boot.
Anyway enough rambling! I\'m still highly jet-lagged and need to start my 40k General miniature for a comp in Japan! w00t.
