I got an email a few days ago from someone from that site asking if they could use my tutorials. Said yes to that too. I figure I put them up on the site to be a help. The more people who see them the more help it will be. I DID make sure that both Cmon and I get credit. I\'ll retract if they don\'t stick to that.

i think ill wait too, i want more info. why are they asking for pics, i wonder, and why was there no additional info, or even a solicitation?

I also got one and was put off that they only wanted a YES or NO reply.. but gave no explanation of what they were really up to. I emailed them asking for more details and Ive had no follow up. I admit I\'m a bit put off to the mass PM to everyone.
Id like to know more but as of right now my answer would be no.

I figured I couldn\'t have been the only person to have received one of these, so I\'m glad I checked this thread first.
I\'m not going to knee-jerk no to this, but I would definitely like to have more information about the site and what they\'re planning to use the stuff for before I reply. Hopefully one of the people who\'ve followed up with them will get a reply and let us know!

hehe sorry to disappoint you darklord, but yeah I got both the warhub one and the Robbeasy one asking for the articles too. :duh: And I even said yes to both of \'em! I didn\'t think there was any harm in it - and now that we see we\'ve all got the messages, if there\'s anything dodgy about it then surely one of us will notice, we will all find out, and can withdraw our permission en masse!

Sorry for hassling you guys, it wasn\'t a mass mail to everyone, just a select \"few\", if you got a request, then you were one of the lucky ones (lets just say it was related to your average rating + number of images).
Theres nothing sinister in what were doing (I would struggle to think of something sinister to do with other peoples images?!) - we dont want to take your images away and torture them, tahts for sure.
We\'re starting a new fansite, a \"bit\" like others around, but with several \"exciting\" twists.
We are just fishing for launch content at the mo, a fansite without anything on it would be rather rubbish.
I\'d rather not say too much until the launch, with regards to what will and won\'t be on the site, but everytihng will be tastefully done and everyone who said yes to the mail will have their details (names, websites and hopefully comments) transferred - in fact, we\'re hoping to pre-register users who accept so that they can login and administer their account and images how they like - they won\'t have to, of course. I might even give the acceptees a special status of \"founding member\", now that\'s something money can\'t buy!
BTW: The \"do you mind\" message was deliberately brief, the messaging system on CMON doesnt allow line breaks, so we opted for a quick email rather than jabbering on in that small box they give you.
Anyway, I\'ll log in every couple of days to update this forum in a similar vague manner as above.

OK I\'m stepping in here to say I\'ve already had the two messages and said NO to both of them.
Several reasons.
1: This strikes me as trying to get bulk content \"on the cheap\" in order to build themselves up without any effort.
2: I hold the right to decide where I place or allow my images to be seen or used. At the moment that resides with Coolminiornot and my own (in serious need of an update) site.
3: If I allowed my images to be used it meant I would be giving tacit approval to a site without knowing either the content, owners, full intent or purpose and or membership.
4: I along with others have been asked to allow permission for my (and their) articles to be used. Again I refused as the articles I wrote were and are intended for the sole usage of Coolminiornot and my own site. Also by publishing them on Coolminiornot we assigned part of the copyright to Coolminiornot as part of the Terms and Conditions. Plus as someof you will or may remember we had two instances of someone ripping off the articles from this site and selling them unlawfully on ebay. Which is why the articles have been collated into a purchasable volume from the coolminiornot store.
Ultimatley the choice is yours, but I do not want to be associated with something which I have no full knowledge of the content or aim.
At the moment \'WARHUB\' is still being constructed so I cannot even see an initial layout.
There are a quite number of other sites out in the internet some of which I visit, some of which I am a member, but there are also a great many which are just full of teenage GW fanboys and to be honest I get enough fanboy overload by going to my local store once a week.

This infers that WARHUB will be capturing content from Coolminiornot, specifically the comments. Now I\'m pretty sure that breaches the copyright of Coolminiornot and/or several levels on individual copyright where people have commented on images.

Robbeasy sent 170 pms, with Warhub sending almost 6000 pms. Both accounts have been banned and all pms deleted. 6000 pms is not a select \"few\", it was everyone on the artists list.

Given what mike said I think I\'m going to change to a no. I diodn\'t realise they had planned to pull content en-mass. I love Cmon and don\'t want someone cloning it without effort. I don\'t mind people linking to something but I do mind them lifting it.
So I no longer will allow Warhub to use my images or written material on their site. If they do I allow Cmon to take whatever action they see fit.

It all seemed a little odd to me too, so I\'m glad this has been investigated and dealt with.
