This is odd I used to get a fair amount of crit on these threads. What gives?
Good question.
I've looked at these a lot and to be honest I really can't see a great deal to pick out.
Granted they are neat and clean, but nothing stands out as eyecatching.
Now this is not a criticism of the painting or the model, but being "historical" and the subject of a large amount of movies we are very familiar with the appearance of WWII paratroopers.
Therefore our perception may be along the lines of "Yes Accurate" and little else.

Unfortunatly with our hobby (and on this site) we have become accustomed to Fantasy and Sci-Fi miniatures which hint at a background story or interaction.
I'd suggest that the Historical figures tend to be seen either as showcases for painting, or in context of their particular era.
Unfortunatley these Paratroopers do look a little "lost" on their base and somewhat out of place, therefore perhaps they are not gathering the attention you expected.

not obvious to paint a figure with a scale that required stealth.
For your paratroopers is lisiblent you really have good contrast each element sion there is nothing sticking out.
Use the technique to separate each Ellement linning, and thinned camouflage tones although historically it is closer to the historical administrative reality, but think of the small scale is very small.

Hi Devon, the base looks too much like a collage done by a little kid with lentils & dried beans. Sorry. Attack it with some thinned washes, even just a bit of Devlan Mud. Beware the static Grass clumping too much though! Once it's dulled back a bit, the eye should settle more readily on the minis. Perhaps a touch of brighter red highlight on the berets too? Are they 15mm?

Cheers, B.

I believe that they are 28mm. Yup I just checked they are 28mm but even then they are some of the smallest 28 I have painted to date. I agree I trying to work on my bases because I am seeing a trend where the most thing crited on my mini's recently is the bases. So I believe that is the next big improvement I am trying to rectify in my hobby skills.
