warm mini, cool base

Hey all,

Just wondering about your opinions regarding color theory. I\'m starting to learn more about warm and cool colors, and understanding why some of my previous minis looked a little odd (because I mixed the warm and cool). Anyway, I am working on a mini now with lots of natural looking browns, tans and khaki off-whites. I\'m wondering what it would look like if I painted the display base (stone mostly) in cool colors. Would it set it off nicely or just muddle everything up?

Well, my first thought is, if this mini is a military type, wouldn\'t he have been dressed appropriate to the terrain he\'s in?

White/grey camo for snow, brown/tan for dessert, greens for jungle, etc. etc.

If you\'re going for contrast I think it would look good.
You can also tone down the highlights and shadows so it doesn\'t distract from the mini.

\" warm and cool \" sounds interesting.... personaly i just grab what ever colours i choose (has given some interesting paint schemes... IE my current tyranids)

i\'m really not the one to hand out advise about color theory, but i\'d give you my 1/2 a cent if you threw up a WIP shot of the mini so i have a better idea of what type of mini it is. If it\'s rank and file i\'d say stick with it\'s terrain. If it\'s a unique character (D&D or the like) i\'d say, sure go for a contrasting base... those types of minis find themselves in odd locals all the time and it\'ll probably look great.
