Warmachine Conversion WIP <many pics>

Impernouncable

This is the third place I have put this thing up. I am that in need of some feedback. I have created a custom caster <gasp> to be fielded in friendly games as my own mercinary. No rules just yet. One could also take this project as an example of how to convert a common science-fiction figure into an IK RPG character. The following photos are sequential.

I began with a figure in power armor from VOR\'s Union faction. I got it for cheap off of eBay as part of a twelve piece lot. I lopped off half its helmet and removed the sub-machineguns that it had in both one hand and the holster. Really I think it was probably the holster that sold me on using this piece for this project. It\'s very Victorian in its positioning. This is also the first picture I ever took with my new camera, so the color is really off and the focus isn\'t very good. About the only thing I had done at this point was add half a head and start sculpting a powerplant on the back. At this stage the powerplant was just a block of putty, and nothing worth looking at.

Here you can see that I have settled on a greatsword for the hand weapon and done a little work on the powerplant. The sword itself is made of milliput that has cured over a piece of paperclip and been sanded to shape. This is a pretty laborsome process but the results are infinitely more durable than gluing a plastic piece on. The exhausts are a single piece of soldering wire run through a hole drilled at the bottom of the powerplant to be and a couple pieces of plastic rod that I bored out to fit over it with my pin-vice. In the top picture you can see Sorscha for scale and a Vulkan battle suit from WarZone. Three of these will become my warcaster\'s retinue. I\'m currently planning to have gobbers piloting them with their heads sticking halfway out of the neck. Arguements for or against this plan are welcome.

The converting is finished in the above photos. You can see that the powerplant has been embellished with suitable sorts of stuff including a grille and what will become a guage. The sword has a nice set of quillions and a reasonably proportionate grip. Overall a relatively simple conversion, but dramatically different from the original model.

Now I am painting it. At this point I have primed it black and put a basecoat on. I will update this thread with either another WIP shot or a completed one in the next couple days.

Thanks for taking the time.
