Tried some free hand on this fellow and used one of the newer crystal bases I did for Armorcast.

I've been doing the metallics in a more 'painterly' style, which I like but also they don't do so well when enlarged much.................most of my mini's don't hold up so well when enlarged.

Trust me your not the only one.

Only thing could suggest would maybe some heat tarnish on the nozzle or some leaking fuel from the tank, but as you've kept it clean these might not fit. Otherwise great job.

I've wanted to try that on different models and was intimidated. Thought it may look like 'candy'.

The heat coloring is a delicate thing. Get it right and it looks like it's heat created, do it wrong (not sure what quanifies wrong other than the end result) and it ends up looking like a rainbow on the pipe.

There's a super good way to do heat distortion from one of the Forge World books using yellow and purple ink in a couple thinned layers. I like the look myself quite a bit.

Ahhh, you mean like blueing right? I think I gotchya now Shawn. Going for the full specrum effect would be pretty hard, yeah. As lonf as there's brown black and a bit of blue I don't htink you can go that far wrong. Introducing technicalities is just introducing problems =P

I love the metal on this guy. The whole piece is well done, but the metal really fits the mini and the Iron Kingdoms background. I love the gauntlets.
