Warning about dodgy Ivy

Well as some of you may know I had an issue with some online-store bought ivy a while back that came with the wrong leaves inside.

I\'m still in the middle of trying to organise a refund from the store I purchased them from, but the guy hasn\'t replied to me for over a week and I don\'t plan on returning these untill I know if he will pay for the return postage and if he will refund the $13us handling fee that was charged.

I got the impression from his emails that he was out of stock of the ivy, and had no \'real\' ivy in stock since he never offered a switcheroo. However the site still says that the ivy is in stock so I can only assume that means the crappy ivy is still on sale.

So this is just a friendly heads up for all of you wanting to purchase ivy, don\'t get it from hometown-hobbies because you may not get what you pay for.

Someone on here mentioned that they bought a dodgy pack from cmon earlier, has anyone else had any issues?

I might ring H&A and inquire as to whether there was a stuff up at their end or if a distributor is playing silly buggers, but it will cost me a packet to ring them since im not with a large phone company.
Does anyone in the US feel like ringing H&A and finding out? :D

Actually I was planning on buying them from... crap I forget his name now... that nice guy on here who makes em... :D

I have his ebay details in my fave seller section.

Does anyone have any more news about the dodgy ivy though? I want to know if it was a screw up with H&A or if someone is being a ripoff merchant behind the scenes. Could be a dodgy distributor out there or something.

Ill have to find out how much it costs to ring the US.

I\'m quite certain Dodgy Ivy was a minor villianess in a Batman comic I read once....lollol

Zordana, I could call them, being that I am in the states, but you\'d have to fill me in on the whole sordid affair.

Dodgy Ivy and Matt Varnish definitely have some unfinished business here.

So, superv, let me get this straight -- you\'re digging up the dirt on this shady ivy?:innocent:lollol

Hahahahah you guys are such dorks lol

supervike, basically, I bought 5 packets of ivy from an online store that had foliage leaves in it instead of ivy leaves (foliage leaves being a hell of a lot cheaper).

All I really want to know is if H&A knows whether something went wrong at their end or not (i assume if someone packaged them wrong they\'d know about it?). Because if nothing went wrong at their end it means there\'s a distributor out there making a quick buck screwing around with Ivy packets.

Im having issues getting a full refund from the store so it will probably end up with me having to ring H&A anyway in order to try and get replacement ivys. :(

Doesnt H&A have a contact us page or an email account? Doesnt seem right having to pay to use a landline in this day and age.

Those leaves look familiar. They come from this: http://members.lycos.nl/wandelendeheks/images/wilgekatjes1.jpg
don\'t they?

Excellent service.

Zordana has a problem here... from that page:

PLEASE NOTE: Australian customs restrictions on organic products may mean that we can not supply this item to Australia. Orders from Australia are at the purchasers own risk as we can not be held responsible if customs impound your order.

Australia has had bad experiencces with invading wildlife and plants and is very, very restrictive if it comes to bringing organic items into the country. Especially those that might threaten food plants. For instance, my stock (about 3 spoonfulls) of honey was impounded when I flew in from NZ.

Yeah that\'s why I was planning on ordering from the guy on here cos he said he can put a note in with the leaves stating the temperature they were cooked at, or whatever it is the customs people want to know.

To be honest, though, ive only ever had problems getting plant-like products through customs during christmas time. Any other time and it\'s fine ;)

As far as I know H&A only have a phone number to contact them on.

\"you guys...\" :D

Geting back to the topic, Irene I\'m not sure your Ivy is dodgy, before I was doing them, I bought a packet each of H&A foliage and Ivy, as far as I can tell the only difference in them is you get less leaves + a square of horsehair in the Ivy. I couldn\'t make out any noticable difference in leaf size, so much so I just mixed both lots together. And I might as well blow my own trumpet (insert suitable Leopardpixie smiley) while I\'m at it, I haven\'t even used them \'cause I think the quality of my own leaves is better

I prefer Mickc22’s leaves over H&A, for one you can get a very nice range of colors ( so nice, I very seldom paint them at all) and one batch is very small, even smaller then H&A. Happy Customer :)
