Hi Y'all
Finally finished another, more serious mini. Here's my take on HF Nubian female.
Had a lot of fun painting her, hope you like the result as I do.

I had planned a long write out for her, but it's much too late now, lol
I might edit the post tomorrow.

Thanks, for watching, and voting of course ;)

neat little scene there. only 2 crits really. i think you could do with less texture on the base and more dustiness and the insides of the pots could be drilled in a little

cracking job on the cloth and the skin though. and i like the way you have bleached a few bits of her hair

Thanks Guys glad you like her.

Freak: It's true fine sand ends up looking pretty coarse at this scale, I yes I should have drilled the pots, I thought about it much too late.

6.0 *sight* and I thought the tits would help me there :(

I don't see much violence.

Looks pretty good. I've always liked this figure. Photos are a bit small, got any close ups?

think one of the reason low score is that people prefer big guns, powerarmors and malicious death scenes :D agreed a little bit more contrats (and slightly bigger pictures) would not hurt, but its a very nice mini nontheless.

Thanks for the comments, makes me feel less lonely :)

@JakeSH: She does bear a big-ass spear, seems violent enough to me ;)

She is very small, so it'd be hard to get much bigger pics than the ones on submission without exposing flaws" I got no close-ups, but I'll post 'real-size' pics somewhere.
As for contrast, I don't quite get it, it goes from almost black to a light grey, in the top area... I don't see it going much lighter. The sheer effect does cut a lot of the contrast on the pants though maybe that's what does it.

@Skelly: I did think that a petite half naked woman would sit as well to the hearth of the average geek as a bloody space marine, but meh, it's a matter of opinions I guess.

Enough half-arsed apologetic comments, I know I can do better next time; I'm still in the bottom half of the rankings, and it's not cause I don't try hard.
She's at 6.9 now... so close, I only wish for another 7

Edit: Tried a new Cmon feature and made an album for her; you can see it all here:

i like the gallery feature, gives a much better sense of the mini. really smooth work..
next time id focus on two things - give the base as much love as the mini! bore those pots, watch out for the sunken effect (earth built up around the mini, as opposed to the mini being on the texture of the base) and....THE FACE. everything looks good, but the face doesn't stand out, especially the eyes. faces are very complex in terms of light and shadow. play with it a bit, and you'll surely get a more.... evocative effect.

Thanks funny, I admit the base was a bit rushed... as for the sinking thing, it's purpose is to get the mini to hold better, as I failed to pin it properly (In fact I kinda destroyed her left foot, a fact also hidden by the sinking.)

I reckon the focal point ended up slightly lower than the face ;) I'll study this bit for the next mini I make. I redid the eyes a couple times, that's the best I could get them, given the size; irl it's a full eye, with iris and pupil.

I for one think it's a great paint job on a very nice figure. Having attempted darker skin with only marginal results I realize how much of a challenge it can be to make it look realistic and you have done a wonderful job with it. I also like the fact that the high lights are nice and subtle. Even though the more extreme high lights can help with contrast/photography/scores, I think the subtle ones portray more realism.

Over all great job, she gets a 7.5 from me. (rounded up to 8 for voting purposes :))

Nice to see that one finished G. Really love that transparency and skin tones. Congrats mate.
I think that "grainy" pictures and your usuall visible image crop took your work a bit down for voters - so there you go - 10 from me to compensate it as much as I can :)

*Smacks someone at random* There, now we have some violence as well. :D

Just voted on this beautiful girl, and on 7.2 now it is starting to get closer to what you deserve for it. :D

@ Chrome: Thanks for doing the dirty work :D

@Phaty: I still haven't figured out the graininess of the pics, and I'm thinking about going back to not cropping the pics for the montage, it's a lot of work and does not get the results I want.

@NGAArt: Thanks, I like this style of mine, I try to push highlights everytime, but I want it to remain subtle in blending.

Thanks guys, your support always means a lot to me, and thanks for the comments on the submission page too.

I'm so glad I could achieve another 7+, it's really a psychological threshold, she made it weeee :D
