I had a High Elf Warband made up a while ago... I never actually bought it though so I can\'t tell you how well it actually works... I remember it was something like two units of archers, a block of spearmen, a small unit of ellyrion (sp?) reavers. I think I took a mage for my character... I think that was it. Basically you use the archers and mage to wittle down the enemies numbers, and the reavers are used to slow the flank by getting within 8\" of the enemy to stop their march. The spearmen are there to get in the way of the enemy charge, with three ranks fighting in combat not much will last (provided the archers and mage have done their job). I\'m not sure how many points that it came too, and I don\'t remember the exact rules for warbands/border patrol so I can\'t really suggest what to do to expand or what not. I hop that helped a little.

They are a good choice... The problem is in Border Patrol you can only have either 1 special or 1 rare choice, on top of that you can only have 4 units at most.

I guess if you arent following the Border Patrol rules (doing either just a 500pt army or doing a warband) you could also include some sword masters. They have great weapons, good initiative and weapon skill, and dont strike last.

Swordmasters are good but i wouldn\'t rate them for smal point games, they\'re expensive (points wise) and not very hardy (5+ armour save) they do deal out a lot of damage but in small games yo dont really have the other units you need to support them (basically deliver them across the field to ther target without getting shot to bits) and at that points cost you dont really want them hanging around waiting for the off chance that someone will do you a favour and charge them.

Reasonable size blocks of your basic troops is what you should go for imo. archers, spearmen and reavers sounds good to me, plenty of versatility there and a good universal tactic to use against all races.:)

I guess if you wanted a bit more punch in your warband you could switch out the reavers for some silver helms. Instead of slowing the flank you could use them to punch through a flank and watch their battle line crumble.
