Wash drying badly

Hello

Has anybody else had Vallejo washes dry with tiny holes in.

I really want to use Vallejo washes but I just cannot seem to get them to dry right.

I have two main problems with them, they either dry making the mini look like it has been
dipped in a river of mud, or if I get this right by careful brushing of the wash with a nice soft
brush, they tend to dry, not always but most times in creases etc full of little holes. Now my eyes
are not as good as they used to be but if I can see them, then I deem it a problem I do not want.

I was told by somebody do not shake to mix but stir, still happens even after as low stir.

This seems to happen mainly in clothing/cloak creases etc.

See attached picture, this is not mine bit it is washed with Vallejo sepia wash, you can clearly see the effect
in all the shading of the rats.

That happened to my mini; I didn't notice there were bubbles in the wash when I applied it and the bubbles created little holes when the wash dried.

Cheers!

switch to GW for washes. they are amazing

Hello

I think I am going to agree with you on this, I have GW washes and have used them, but it is the cost, but then I suppose
if you want the best wash out there, which it seems to be, then you got to pay for it.

1. I have tried, Army Painter dips brushed on - that is like playing with thick smelly engine oil, does the job if that is what you require.
2. I have tried Vallejo washes and the large jars - Drys like the mini has been dunked in a river of mud and full of air bubbles.
3. I have tried Making my own washes using Flow enhancers, inks, pigments etc - Messy and just cannot get it right.
4. I have tried wood varnishes - Pretty good better than Army Painter I feel, water based not so smelly and far far cheaper.
5. Games workshop - What can I say, brush it on, job done.

Now when I think of the money spent on the first 3 above I could have bought quite a lot of Devlan Mud & Badab Black.

I always read threads where people struggle with washes, i cant get the problem. I myself use GW paints and if i need a wash, i just mix alot of water into them. A bit harder to apply, but if used right, just perfect. No need for flow enhancers or expensive other products.

Yes I quite agree, but I have messed with the trial and error paint and water method, just cannot get it to work :( have no idea why. As I said time and money I have soent experimenting I could have bought a load of GW washes that just work with no messing about.
