Watch Jacob Nielsen paint

There\'s a link on http://www.jrn-works.dk/ to another site which features a short clip (approx 12mb) of Jacob painting his Custode Guard.. =)

I do think he should consider joining Anonymous Brushlickers (I\'m still in the denial phase myself) ;)

Many thanks for that.
It\'s great to see the highly talented painters and learn a lot from them. Didn\'t realise Jakob was left handed.

One thing which would have been nice to have seen, was the pallette, just to see the dilutions \"in the Flesh\".

Well.. I guess mini-painting will never be a sport in the olympics. :D But I\'d love to see instructional videos! That would be cool..

I\'m calculating his movements with the brush right now.. trying to get an algorithm for GD-trophies.

There are actually a couple of instructional videos available. The are called the Wizards Workshop.

http://www6.mailordercentral.com/thewarstore/products.asp?dept=1210

I had bought both a few years back, and quite honestly they are not worth it. They are both much too basic (even the 2nd \'master series\' tape)

Thanks for the link on Jakob. I do agree, I wish there were some seriously well done video tutorials covering more advanced topics. The tutorials here on the CMON site and others out on the web are invaluable, but actually seeing someone show the techniques would be much better.

Thanks Avelorn, that was really interesting. I couldn\'t help but noticing how clean his hands were...of course he only painted a border, and I did see him use his thumbnail as a place to wipe off excess paint. Ha, I was right all along lol

Oh.. thanks for the link. Indeed.. imagine watching one of Haley or Cyrils minis come to life.. :)

But really.. it couldn\'t be that hard to do a small video tutorial.. and if you make a mistake.. you can just cut and switch angle.. :D:D

Another thing I noticed is the brush he used.. an old Citadel brush. He must take great care of his brushes... or just stored a few. Okey.. I found that interesting anyway!! ;)

I just saw that CJ Cummings at Ragin Gaijin has made video tutorials on wet blending and feathering. Pretty cool, and he also makes video clips of events like GD and GenCon.

Don\'t feel bad, I went back twice before I found it. Look for :

\"January 19th 2005
A Danish company working with digital movie technology did some test shooting of one of my painting sessions at the Fanatic convention last year. Check out the edited 4 min. painting demo (appr. 12 mb) on their webpage at MosquitoFilm.dk (the site is in Danish, but just scroll down and activate the video-link).\"

in the NEWS section right on the main page

to be honest i didnt see anything extraordinary there.
he paints like 95% of us do (but manages to be a lot better ;))
but i really enjoyed seeing that he had to fix some mistakes on the freehand with the base color white :innocent:
i always thought the \"pros\" would rush a fancy freehand in a few minutes :D
however, the minis were awesomely converted and painted!

I don\'t think that was really a mistake (assuming me are talking about the same thing where he trimmed up the ends of the wings at the end.) It\'s actually a really good method to get a good sharp corner, not that I\'m even close to the same level as JN... or you (hangs head in shame). I\'d agree with you on the nothing to extraordinary part though.

I can\'t believe he licks the paint right off the end of the brush. Nasty! :|~
