Hey guys - just a heads up, this thing is still floating around - I got three more copies from people here today. Somewhere there\'s a server floating around that we all share in common that has at least one version of beagle on it.

I don\'t know about stateside, but anyone over in blighty needs to be careful if they are on Virgin.net or have any friends who are. Virgin have been hammered by it, and are warning peeps not to open any mails sent by them with attachments. This one does populate from address books, so keep an eye out everybody!

Well, unfortunately...

We weren\'t able to track the virus that DennisMech got purporting to come from me. As both of us were clearly in the infected machine\'s address book it had to be someone from CMON.
So it continues to spread...
It is entirely possible that the infected person doesn\'t even know.
If you examine a suspicious email carefully you can find the point of origin, no matter who it says it is \'From\'. Sometimes this is helpful, sometimes not but it is always worth a try in case it is a friend who has the lurgy and doesn\'t know.

Sorry but that\'s a common misconception.
Any POS hacker can create an email account with an existing name & address and send mail supposedly from the real person. Unless you have a specific electronic signature it is very difficult to protect yourself. My Team at work are currently investigating this very issue.

Yes, okay...

But we are not talking about a gang of trained, sophisticated hackers deliberately targetting CMON members:duh:
It is almost certainly an unsuspecting member, and in that case you can identify the source...
