Watching Paint Dry

Well I'm relieved to say that the owner is delighted with the painting, which is a weight off my mind.

However the damn arm anchorage system I attempted has given up the ghost and drooped like half cooked spaghetti.
The magnets aren't strong enough to combat an off set centre of gravity, even though they managed well enough yesterday.

So back home with it today and working out the plan for the permanent afixment option.
Looks like this may be a double pin, in parallel, plus Araldite fix.
Bit of a bugger, but not the end of the world, recon it'll take a couple of days to "Heath Robinson" this together.

Pass me my Dremel and the 2mm brass rod, please.
:thinking::doh:

How about a screw in system , eg having a screw thread attached to the arms on a moving socket with the screw thread on both ends then a socket under the carapace. My daughter uses a metal frame of a person then adds magic clay to do stop motion films.
this armature (if thats the correct term) uses this method allowing multiple changes on the arms.
I can take a photo if you want Mike.

She's not ready to leave you yet, DR! What an amazing result you got on a mountainous project. I'm interested in how you work out the pinning/arm situation, too.
Take some more pictures!

I can take a photo if you want...
I'm interested...

Gorgeous looking titan and beautiful freehand.

Would there be any chance of a picture from behind? Never remember what these things look like from the back

That's because they don't leave anyone alive in their path to take picture of their sleek behinds!

The end result looks fantastic. Great work! Those attachments sound like a pain in the butt. I'm glad none of my pieces need removable parts!

So as you can see on the photos the thread is attached to a ball socket so that will be secured via pins to the under side of the carapace.
Then the brass socket section would be attached/inserted in the arm so allowing the arm to be screwed on and be slightly positionable.
Getting the parts is difficult, it took me ages of searching the web, I thought id saved the site for future ref but carnt find it now, sorry :pissed-off::pissed-off: !!!!!!!

Thanks for that Lee, I understand what you meant now.
Unfortunately there's not enough room, contact or material to support that kind of structure for the arms.
(And I'm including the 3cm x 3cm x 1cm Greenstuff filling that was needed between the lower and middle shoulder pad. Part of the stupid design failure I've whinged about.)

I'm now considering a number of options:-
1. nut in arm, bolt with washer in body, epoxy padding and Araldite adhesive
2. two parallel brass rods, Araldite adhesive
3. C4

Both 1 & 2 means partial dismantlement.
Just priced this thing up as well £400 for the body £57 per arm. FOXTROT
