Here\'s Rorschach torching a SWAT(?) guy

I still have my reservations...but as there have been so very fantastic comic-to-film translations recently (Sin City, 300)

Here\'s to hoping!

I dunno, I wasn\'t that sold on V for Vendetta- they kept trying to say very American things (eg, sidewalk) in very British accents, and it jarred so much that I was really put off. Sin city was awesome!

I am very much looking forward to Watchmen, however. My bf lent me the graphic novel, and it\'s great! That shot looks just like it was pulled from the pages. Since I suck at actors and their reputations, does anyone know if the chioce for Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) is a good one?

Watchmen is going to be practically impossible to pull off as a movie. At best, it\'ll be a good film based on Watchmen.

One huge part of The Watchmen graphic novel is that it took that medium to the limit with its presentation and storytelling. Film and graphic novels have very different strengths and weaknesses, so it\'s going to be ... shall we generously say... extremely tough to capture the subtlety and multi-layered story in a two hour film. I look forward to it all the same however.

I happened to think V for Vendetta was kind of a crap film, by the way. <g>

True. But I hope they succeed! If anyone hasn\'t read it, they should- it\'s a cracker.

About V for Vendetta...I thought it was quite a tasty affair. John Hurt as the Big Brother figure was a clever turnaround. And watching Parliament go up in smoke appealed to me in some strange parochial fashion.

I actually liked the movie of V for Vendetta better than the comic!
Hmm... gonna have to disagree, but YMMV of course. I found many aspects of the movie, such as the \"virus\" plot, to be very weak. Others, like the Evey prison sequence (nearly identical to the book) were incredible.
