Water effects/clear resin...

After seeing the magnificent Ogryn model from the Spanish GD recently, it has inspired me to do a mini diorama involving a model half submerged in water. I have seen some pretty lame articles on water basing around the place, but none that specifically address the type of base I\'m looking to replicate.
Anyone have any good links or tips?

i\'m doing a similar thing for italian GD

well u must take some stripes of plasticard and roll them into wax or oiled paper (the one for the oven for example) and stick them with some sealant (blu tak) on the sides of the base to make a sort of \"bowl\" for the resin casting

then u pour into ur container the resin, leave it till it\'s solidified , remove the blu-tak and the plasticard

hmmm

currently my engine of the gods is on my desk, with plasticard glued to the sides of the base with wax paper on it.

then it\'s on a sheet of wax paper on a large wooden sheet
i poured the water effects into the dinosaur base...i put silicon rubber on the edge, below the plasticard/base to stop any leaking, but there is still some

will see how it is in morning and then tomorrow night i guess.

hopefully its ok and i can get the plasticard off

I thought that you had to do the water effect like in coats say less than 3mm thick. The stuff I used looks and acts just like white glue. Is this true the doing it in coats so it doesnt go clowdy and do you think it is just repackaged white glue or so specially made to do water effects.

water effects i think is modified white glue as it appears you can shape it a bit more.


realistic water is more like a clear resin.

It depends exactly what you\'re doing and how deep or otherwise you want it.
I\'ve used this stuff with good results.

It\'s basically a two-part table varnish that you can tint with inks. It dries rock hard and clear. It\'s great for deep pools, fountains etc. I\'m just in the final throes of using it on a base for my WOH piece. You\'ve got to make sure you\'ve no little gaps where it can leak out or you\'ll end up with a sticky mess on your work area
