Wave 2 minis, generally great, a couple of disappointments...

Im not a moaner, I love miniatures and am grateful for the sheer amount from CMON over recent months.

But, I'm slightly disappointed with a couple of the wave 2 minis I received yesterday, Marvin has lost his tie, and gained a goatee, (i guess this can be sorted with a bit of chopping and green stuff)

But Eva has become a French girl, beret, and a short jacket. Don't get me wrong, excellent model, just not the (yellow with black stripes) biker suit clad Samaurai sword wielding character we all wanted. A little bit naughty to change her so drastically if I'm honest, even for copyright reasons.

So the hunt continues for a good Jules and Bea, which, lets face it, is who we plumped for when we saw these models in the first place.

Any good leads?

I read somewhere that CMON is willing to refund you for Marvin and Eva since they changed so much from the original designs.

Well not much they could do about it if they wanted to avoid a lawsuit. While it´s a little sad that it was´nt allowed to slide I understand why it was done.
And for those who are dissaticefied cmon has confirmed that people can return the miniatures for a refund.

A spot of paint works wonders:

Like Scorpion says, paint makes a big difference!

And second, you could mod it, so you cut the gun off and give her a sword.
Make it out of putty/modelling clay and just glue/pin it on if you have to.
Don't refund these minis! Send them to me and ill buy em :p

Oh my! Not only people has already received their minis but they had time to paint them too...
The good thing is that I will receive mine tomorrow.
And maybe some time in the future, I will paint them.
Good job Scorpion and thanks for the 'preview'. :curl-lip:

I'm no legal consultant.. but every time I open my Amazing Figure Modeller mag, there's at least one instance of a resin company having a kit that is straight from the movies.. but the name that been changed slightly so it's technically 'not' 100% a copyright violation..
Case in point:http://www.resincrypt.com/product/new/pharoahs_ squeeze/product.html
"Pharoh's Squeeze" by Resin Crypt... THAT'S PATRICIA VELASQUEZ FROM THE MUMMY DOWN TO THE DAGGER AND CAT STATUES!!!!
If resin companies that sell their stuff for hundreds of dollars can get away with it, I'm pretty sure it's safe to sell minis that are a fraction of the size and cost. But, that's me. We need a miniature painting legal aide... :p

A lawsuit? Really? Good luck with that one.

IANAL2 :D but from what I've heard, if a company hears about an IP violation, they *MUST* enforce it. If you're familiar with comics, Marvel comics almost lost the rights (or whatever) to Wolverine because Cerebus had him on the cover (even as a parody) three times in a row or something: "Do note that if you do NOT protect your trademark, you give up the right to HAVE that trademark, so with this being such a notable usage of their trademarked figure, Marvel pretty much HAD to say something if they wanted to keep their Wolverine trademark, which is certainly very important to Marvel."http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2012/01/20/comic-book-legends-revealed-350/

My guess is that the smaller companies flew under the radar. If you're familiar with anime music videos :p there's a site called AnimeMusicVideos.org, and pretty much all of these AMVs are made without the express permission of the music creators. So... one AMV viewer contacts Evanescense and asks them if they've seen these music videos or something. Since the music group wishes to view or otherwise approve of any material derived from their works and now their agent has just been notified about this use of their music -- but don't have time to watch several videos -- guess what gets pulled from the AMV site.
