Ways to improve

seen both of them, and they are both good. both are underrated.
i must admit, though, that i underrated them too. for me it was an aesthetic thing. head looked to big, a giant marine for a dread, unusual colors. not bad, but not \"cool\" to me. now i dont mean that to be bad necessarily - there are plenty of things i have been faulted on but refuse to change because i like them. keep at it, and dont change your style if you like it.

things to try -

darklining
gems
rediculously smooth and needless blending.
freehand stuff
dynamic positioning of models
practice your nmm

im still working on those myself. stick around, look at lots of minis, and you will get a feel for it.

You been robbed. I gave both 8\'s. Would have given 8.5 if that was possible.
Good strong colors
Good compostion of the colors
Good to see some different color scheme\'s
Well painted.
Could use a touch more highlighting here and there.

There is definately a CMON look that will get you higher scores.....Dont be a clone. Keep doing what your doing. You obviously know what your doing. Dont let score\'s sway you from the siren song of the muse!!

forget the scores mate, that will only give you a headache.

your highlighting needs to be smoother.
try doing some shading once you have finished highlighting. this will add more contrast, which is what you are lacking.

for the nmm metals, i recomend checking out cheebas gallery. not only has it got some fantastic painted miniatures but also, paints used.
remember nmm needs contrast to work, once you have this mastered you will find it so easy.

hope this helps.

and remember, scores don\'t meen shit. (great for an ego boost tho lol)

I think the definition is great on the minis. you could add a highlight or two to some edges. The problem I have with them is the green colour. I think it\'s about what people think of when they think of grey knights in the GW \"canon\". I don\'t think they look cool in the \"right\" sort of way for most people.. and that\'s the title of this site. :) that is pretty much what\'s hurting your scores. Else these would pretty much be mid-7\'s. 8\'s even. Alot of \" \"s in this post :p

You lost me there!! :innocent: The combination of a double negation and the word \"right\" makes this sentance confusing. lol

Thanks for the help and info all. I enjoy my brighter colors too much to give up there. So I just need to avoid GW cannon, and work on my skills.

To me, there is a definate, accepted to be correct and good, CMON look. It\'s not bad, it\'s just redundant - smoooooth blending, nmm, certain color schemes. I dont play the games and have little knowlege of what is the \'correct\' color for certain mini\'s and such and I think my scores suffer at times because of that. BUT, I like what I\'m doing.

I paint my thumb.
I think it\'s good that you have a style of your own and that YOU know what YOU want for your minis.
Miles away from what I would choose, but mini painting is big enough for all styles to live together.
Two seven from me, which I consider the norm for a very clean technical job like that.

Good on ya Shrub! Not my pick for colors but then they aren\'t FOR me, they\'re for you. If you like it stick with it. I think your painting technique is quite good, and you have excellent brush control!
