the idea behind this guys is that hes a blind Champ who leads his forces with his visions..

So i cocked the head at an odd angle as if he was having a vision & pointing where his muties should go.

Oh guess I should of said its for a lost and damned army.

Ok for whats done..

I layed down some paint to help get a better idea for what he was going to look like.. I feel that he is missing something thoe.. Im not sure what yet..
any C&C is welcome

Be careful with your coverage it\'s a little patchy in places and you need to be careful of that... Many people will say this and it\'s really important!

* thin your paints *

Just with water, 1 part water to 1 part paint for basecoats. What primer did you use there? I like the colour scheme though, so keep working hard!

Keep us posted here, and welcome, this forum is great - people might criticise but they\'re all really cool and offer great advice! (I\'m a new painter too!)

I used a flat white paint from walmart..

I know the paint looks thick but I cant seem to fix that.. I water my paint down with water & future floorwax but I guess Im not doing it right.. I use like 2-3 parts paint to 1 part water/ffw

thanks for the feed back hopefully ill get to post some more pics today

I\'d say drop the future for now and just use water, remember not to overload the brush, you want a smooth coat! If it doesn\'t cover the first time that\'s fine > let it dry then make another coat!

If the basecoat is still showing, still fine.. When I apply some of my basecoats they can take from 1-2 basecoats (darker colours) to I think I did around 10 for a yellow miniatures! :D

I\'ve never used future but people recommend it, it\'s great for washes afaik but if you\'re trying to get the basics down I recommend using only water!

As your ability and confidence grows start to use some additives if needed but still nothing beats H20! :D

I would suggest it...

Your conversion is too cool to let the painting hold it down.

I\'d not use the FFW either for straight painting. Using it in a thin wash or glaze may make it more effective.

Also your ratios of paint-water seem backwards. I would suggest trying about 4-5 parts water to 1 part paint... You want it thin enough to flow, but not runny... The consistancy of heavy cream seems to work fine. Load your brush, but then touch it gently to a paper towel. This will pull off the extra paint and help with the right amount.

Anyhow...your conversion is cool. I love the way the head is cocked like you say...and he is vaguely pointing...Neat stuff.

Actually I think the banner is ok, nice use of colours, just get it a little more tidy should be great.

Out of interest what brushes/sizes are you using?

I started with a white primer the added a thim layer of vomit then tercota then scab red the blood red then red ink & tryed to high light with ruby red..
the silver i wanted to look tarnished so I did boltgun over black & drybrushed silver..
