We have a tiny earthquake and the world panics!

We had an earthquake today. 5.4 I was at an ATM with my son and he said, \"Did you feel that?\" \"Feel what?\" I think we just had an earthquake!\" \"Nah, if we did it was nothing.\"

I get to work and my co-workers are answering phoes like mad. Why? Everyone everywhere outside of California is convinced that our hotels have all collapsed and thier vacations are ruined! lol

5.4 is nothing. I\'d be surprised if there are even any pictures to go on the news. If there are, watch closely. You\'ll see different angles of the same building over and over again to make it look like something important. Don\'t believe it! Don\'t worry about California until we have one of 6.0 or higher!

Silly people...........lol

The video footage they showed on Fox was just some foggy cityscape from a camera at the top of a building, with nothing interesting going on. lol

If it was something big I imagine I would have felt it too, being just one state over.

I don\'t think the World has panicked, really. Haven\'t seen much panicking over here, anyway! ;)

I\'m glad it was a small one, though. :)

5.4? Meh, that\'s nothing. I\'d wager most people wouldn\'t even have tipped vases from that. 7.8? Now that was something to write home about.

There was an article linked on my yahoo mail page, and I clicked on it because it had some pictures. Nearly all of them were different angles of a small pile of bricks that fell off an old abandoned building. The rest of the pictures were of people who were being interviewed, and pictures of skyscrapers taken at strange angles to appear that it was something serious. lol

Hehehe I\'ve (kinda) gotten used to them being in Japan. Heck, even trains make the buildings wobble here (specially in the high tower I\'m in).

The thing I hate most about them though is you really can\'t do anything.. I hate that feeling of helplessness x_X

Lots of news stories here are saying how it is the precursor to the \"BIG ONE\". Ok then.
I went through 2 while i was in Japan. The next town over was on a fault line. First one i didn\'t know what was happening. Just heard a noise and then some stuff shook. My wife slept through it. The second one, i heard the sound like a train coming, told my wife to stand in a doorway. The house shook for a bit but that was all.
Probably won\'t help anyone, but i have been told to stand in a bamboo grove if there is an earthquake.

Does an area of scrubby tumbleweeds count? I might be able to find a field of dried up poppies but it\'s quite a ways from my house. ;)

The only mention of it on the news here has been a bit of footage of Judge Judy as it occurred whilst they were filming. It was one of those ...and finally stories. They didn\'t even say what the size of the EQ was, just that as Judy made a quick exit, both parties in the case were left standing bemused.
