Oddly enough,
I live about 5 minutes (literally) from Red Top.....and work off P\'tree Industrial in Norcross.
If you guys come up this way, you\'ll have to stop by and say hello...

Hey Philolgus...

Years ago... like in \'95... I went to Red Top Mountain state park, not far from Etowah here in Georgia. The parking area wasn\'t paved, but filled with tiny pieces of rock.

They\'re dark grey like slate (maybe not quite as blue). They don\'t break in shelves or chips like slate. Not pebbly like granite, either. Not sure what type of rock they are, but perfectly shaped and sized for figure bases as rubble or natural rocks.

I scooped up a standard plastic cup full of them and still have 1/2 the cup left.

A lot changes in 12 years, but I\'m betting you can still find the rocks there. Assuming that the I-75/Kennesaw area is convenient to you anyway.

Thanks, I will have to make a day trip. (unless Rodnik reveals a closer source). I\'m actually not far from you. I live in Auburn just down 316 from your neck of the woods. See you at GD\'07 I hope

Can\'t imagine eating them for breakfast though.
Although the Wikipedia link seem to show them as being more like Scones.

White Gravy?????????

And I have to say this No-One makes Yorkshire Puddings like my wife. Best Pudding\'s I\'ve ever had, add Roast Beef, Roast Potatoes and Proper Gravy to enjoy properly. (Oh with a dollop of mustard to enhance the experience).

hmmm your pudding is a hearty meal, ours is a dessert.

our biscuits are part of a hearty meal, yours is a dessert.

What do you all put in your ice cream? Pork?

lol

IIRC, pudding is an overly versatile word in the UK - generic word for dessert, a sort of dinner roll, blood sausage, all sorts of things it seems. Always kind of confused me. ;->

Check down the bottom of this menu from the Fat Duck restaurant and you\'ll see you\'re not far off. Personally, I prefer a chocolate flake ;)

I have had scones and tea bisquits, and although the shape is correct the flavor and consistantcy are quite different. Bisquits taste similar to a croissant, but are slightly harder, but not quite as hard as a scone.

Shown with gravy in second pic, though they also are VERY tastey without.

And Vike, I ALWAYS crumble some sausage into it (usually Jimmy Dean); you have to cook the sausage bits it the water before you add the flour, so the water gets nice and greasy. :D

But some of our Puddings are also Desserts. i.e Spotted Dick, Jam Roly Poly, Bread & Butter Pudding, Sticky Toffee Pudding and last but not least Christmas (or Figgy) Pudding.
And just to confuse the issue there\'s Savoury Puddings like Leek Pudding(*), and Steak and Kidney Pudding.)

No. Our biscuits are what we have with a cup of Tea or Coffee. You call them cookies. But you really need to try some of the classics, Chocolate Olivers (if you can find any, last I saw was in Harrods about 7 years ago) HobNobs and a classic delicasy; Digestive Biscuits. buttered with a small slice of Cheddar cheese on top.

Found something better. We\'ve been buying \'Kuhlfi\' a version of Ice cream which originated in the Indian Sub-Continent. Made from Condensed milk, Pistachios, Almonds, Sultanas and a few other ingredients I can\'t bring to mind. Superb served with Strawberries (or any other fruit for that matter.)

lol

(* Which any good Northerner will tell you is a food group on it\'s own!)

While researching those pics earlier I came across THIS.

I\'m afraid to buy biscuits anymore.

lol:bouncy::flip:

I also found an E-zine dedicated soley to biscuits and gravy! I won\'t bother with a link to that, but just how many articles can you write about it? ???
