I cleaned up 8 images this morning and sent them all to CMON land. Most of these have had their day in the WIP thread at one time or another -- but I was surprised to realize that I had actually \"finished\" this many in recent days.

So, after a long while of posting, replying, a couple of \"how to\" articles and general lurking -- I finally have a gallery. Aww.

[EDIT: I would *love* some feedback on these. Most are pieces I did when I just got back in to painting and I know I can do much better now -- but feedback is *always* a good thing.]

your nmm and metal needs more contrast.

i won\'t comment on the rest as i know you can now do better.

Feedback requests on these two as they\'re scoring low (5.4 and 5.6) while other, what I consider lesser, pieces are scoring higher. I feel like these two represent some of my best work to date (and still getting better) so I was a bit surprised.

The first I don\'t think photoed very well which I know doesn\'t help. The second I know has room for improvement and I plan on doing another as a before/after.

What can I do to improve these?

the nmm needs glare spots adding.
have a look at alexi z\'s gallery. natalya\'s nmm is superb.

you also need to think about where your light source is coming from.
this will effect your highlights as well as shadows.
look at bragon\'s gallery for this. he is soooo good it\'s scary.

Well, there\'s one -- I didn\'t do any NMM which means my metal looks flat. I see that a bit in the first and a lot in the second piece. I think that the ink on the Chaplain\'s gold is creating glare that kills the highlighting. Hmm... maybe it\'s more photo time.

I would say that the use of some thinned washes and glazes particularly with brown ink and a little black paint will really bring some of your painting together...
most notably on the face of uriah and the golds of the chaplain...

nice solid work and just a little bit of inbetween grades to the highlighting will make a lot of difference
