I was just removing some mold lines with my knife and dropped the knife, my instant reaction was to try and catch it. Before i could it hit the table STANDING UP RIGHT and my hand went straight onto the blade, and I\'ve stabbed the bone at the base of my thumb...Ouch

yeah, that\'s a valuable lesson learned...

never try to catch anything overly hot, cold, heavy, fast or sharp.

(or that requires cream to get rid of the rash)

Been there done that more than once. Did you get stitches in it? You probably should.

Ive done worse, years ago I worked on a drafting table, my knife rolled off and I tried to close my legs and catch it in my lap, drove the blade up to the handle into my thigh.

After that episode, I put a blob of putty on the end of my knife and made it square shaped..now the knife will never roll again.

Monk, you get it looked at? Lots of nerves and important bits in there that should not be cut.

(by the way, I love monkfish. Done right, it looks & tastes like lobster. Keeps me happy since I cannot eat shellfish anymore.)

Good luck with that; make sure a doctor sees it. I split my thumb-tip to the bone with a pocketknife when I was a boy scout (15 years ago), never had it looked at, and I still feel it sometimes.

Given the dangerous nature of miniature painting, you\'d think we\'d all get paid a little more.

Erm... wait. Hey? I\'m not even getting paid!

Sucks about your thumb. Heal up quick.

I learned to suppress the instinctive \'gotta catch it\' response when I was on the dart team in college.

Didya know steel darts seem to bounce back at you faster than you threw them when they hit one of the steel parts of a dartboard?

My injuries always seem to derive from some version of holding the mini in my hand and using something pointy to make an anchor hole for drilling.

I\'ve done the drilling thing, too, and stabbing my thumb with needle files.

I\'ve not caused myself an injury with darts but I have caused one. When I was a kid, I decided to take the dartboard, which was attached to an A1 sized bit of wood, outside and throw darts at it from the opposite side of the road. It was me and this other kid. At some point I had to pick up the flights and reattach them. When I looked up the other kid had gone. I carried on anyway and threw a dart. It flew over the bit of wood. Then there was a cry of pain. I went over and that kid was sat behind the board where I couldn\'t see him, now with a hole just above his knee where the dart has impaled him.

Mind you, on another occasion he managed to hit his little sister in the head with a dart.

Wow, it might have been his fault for hiding behind the dartboard though :D all in favour of banning darts say aye lol

Reminded me of when i was younger and me and my friend were shooting those little wooden kebab skewers (from a toy bow) at a cardboard target, he bet me he could dodge the arrow, it hit him in the head. i really think i should be kept away from sharp things ???
