Ya they did, back in December. It has slowly gone down in price as the auction ends with no bids.

It\'s very nice but for that price you can get something astonishingly good.

High price aside, I do hope they find a buyer and get a good price for it as obviously a lot of work went in to it.

It\'s a great model, and I bet even at that price their not making minimum wage, but is there really a market out there for 1000$ mini\'s? I know some collect these pieces as works of art, and no doubt that model is a fine piece of work, but does anyone know what the most expensive models to sell on the open market have been?

I\'m with you, and I think I know why. It\'s got the cartoony look with all the crazy color combo\'s (chest of colors is right!) which pushes it into the stylized cartoony style of painting for me (and that\'s okay) but then the effort for a realistic and weathered model has been made from the feet down. Doesn\'t do it for me.

It\'s sure as sweet christmas stuffing painted to an extraordinarily high level, but I don\'t like the choices made. Kind of like the way that Victor Hardy Bloodthirster was able to have everyone either loving or hating it I think.

It was one of the Eavy Metal teams (Razza I think) with a high Elf model. (For most expensive on foot single figure)
Went for about £500 on eBay. (If I remember correctly)

There was also a Tyrion a while back, Fredy\'s (?)
That was close to, or just over £500.

Never paid or planned to pay £500 for a commission, but I would expect to pay that if it was a unique job, with heavy sculpt work.

Little, little, little do you all know about commission prices nowadays...:)...

The most expensive, single Miniature (though a big one...) cost more then 30.000 Dollar...

I am not even joking...

There are other examples (plenty...) from CMON Top 10 painters, that sell their miniatures on a regular basis in a range from 1.000 up to 5.000 EURO... Not me, I might add...

Wake up, do you think we are doing this for fun...?...^-^...

I have no doubt that commision pieces would go for oodles. I suspect that\'s where the real money would be, if you had the skills and the rep.

That 2910 for the tyrion piece, isn\'t that something! That\'s what I was curious about, the person that paints something up for their own reasons and then sells it for big bucks. I just figure that\'s more or less how pricey canvas art stuff would go for and wanted to compare our world to the canvas and brush world.

I think I mumbled something about this figure the last time it was talked about, but whilst I can see and appreciate the work that\'s gone into it, I don\'t like the piece much. All I get when I look at it are bits and pieces from different models put together and given an almost luminescent paint job.

That and I see tyranid legs on it.

However, no doubt it\'s been painted very skillfully, just not really my bag at all.

I don\'t begrudge them trying to get as much money from the sale as possible though!

Yeah, €30k is bonkers... I would love to see any kind of example of work demanding this sort of premium.

When I think of all the minis I could get for that sort of money it gives me a cold sweat.

Not an easy question... What if you were rich...?... not a matter of money, I guess...

Those are good models Matt. Problem for me is that to shell out big bucks for a piece I personally would have to look at it as an investment. Maybe it is, but I don\'t think you could re-sell at your own cost or even make money on a 30k piece of pewter, no matter the skill involved.

Of course there are people out there with insane amounts of money who can spend that kind of cash that would be about as important as picking a quarter up off the street, but I just can\'t see the topmost pieces from our beloved hobby being justifiable for sale at that price. However since they sold for that I guess I am wrong.

And to answer your direct question of what would I pay for those pieces? Zero. I\'m a painter, I want to do it myself! Of course I did commision a piece so I am a bit of a liar, but that was for charity.
