In historical circles, miniatures are rightly seen as works of art and attract people that will pay that sort of money of top pieces. Apparently, Kosta Kariotelis\' \"Faust\" went for over 30k euros.

I know a guy that paints historial 54mm minis for celebrities like Robin Williams and charges over $10,000 for each mini. I guess if you know that right people then you can charge whatever you want as long as people like your skills.
EDIT: Faust is definately one hell of a mini. It is insane that it sold for so much.

I have to say the workmanship that went into \'Faust\' is incredible. A stunning piece and really not my thing at all, but the skill is rather beyond my comprehension at the moment.

No, that\'s different.
If an electrician just showed up and wired my bathroom so every time I flushed it played a light effect like when the Millenium Falcon went into hyperpsace, I\'d give him the moon (It\'s no moon, it\'s a space station.....), but if the same dude showed up and wired my stereo to blare the crescendo of the 1812 overture at full volume at 3:00am, not so much.
Nobody is questioning the skill in any of these pieces, but as pieces of creative interest purely people are only going to pay for what they find appeals to them the most, which is why Freak has made it clear he\'s no fan of the Victor Hardy piece (I am in agreement also).
I\'m not knocking ANYBODY who can get paid doing anything. I don\'t hold it against Barry Bonds when they give him a check for 70 million bucks, that\'s for sure.

I know of a few pieces that have gone in the ten\'s of thousands.. It\'s always funny as it\'s something we\'re not used to but when your in that land and spending that kind of money on a miniature it isn\'t purely on the minis worth it\'s on your own ability to buy whatever the hell you want.. If you can afford 50 000 Euros on a model your not gonna be comparing it to the car you could buy or the part mortgage or whatever as then you are in a different class and you would be driving 100K plus cars to your 5million boat to rest in your 10million holiday home to get a break from your 50mill appartment... yes that world does exist and in that world are indeed collectors of minis...
Hell i used to work in the pet trade and a supplier in brighouse had Koi carp for sale a £50,000 plus... imagine next doors cat eating that bugger....was it worth it did if it have resale value..?? probably nt but those that have the money like to flash it.c
for me I have had my biggest prices with commision and rightly so . Im not gonna say what they are but needless to say a comfortable amount but Iworked bloody hard for a lot of hours to get it..
If they want to try get this price then I see absolutely no problem it\'s their work.
The biggest danger it poses is people attempting copies it\'s been relisted a few times now and I say good luck to them....
I know I had a few pieces sell for 3-400 plus and soon after there were several attempts at the same piece but they will never be exactly the same and when your in a world where everything collected s a one off then anythin can happen

I\'ve looked at the Tyrion piece, and the back legs of the horse look all wonky, particularly between the hock and the stifle (although the lower legs look weird too). That\'d put me off for a start! If I was gonna spend 2k on a mini, I want it to be anatomically realistic (note that I didn\'t say \"correct\"!).
