I am looking to buy these at a local store, are the W and N or the Da Vinci popular in Canada, can they be found in art or hobby stores?

They sell the W&N S7\'s at Wallacks, they\'re not with the brushes though. You\'ve got to ask the staff for them. Sometimes they\'re in a locked display cabinet or under a counter hidden from view. So if you\'ve got one in your area you\'re in luck.
No idea on the DaVinci though.

Holy moly! Who would use a $500 (with taxes) brush for painting? When your brush is that big, does the kolinsky sable really matter? They must have to kill alot of rodents to make that brush.

@DrEvilMonkey thanks for the links. I would never buy a paint brush over the net tho. I wont even buy a paint brush I cant touch. A woman in the art store told me not to touch the brushes unless I was buying them and I told her if I cant test the bristles I woulnt buy them. I havent been back since.
I live near brisbane so I guess I may just need to go into the city and have a look.

That is way over the odds but to answer the question - professional artists... although not many of them! lol List price for these is $331.90 by the way, but you can get them for much less. Edit: sorry, this is in US$, not the Canadian Peso!
That\'s not nearly the most expensive brush you can get, if you\'re interested see if you can find what a #20 goes for (every few years, when they become available!)
We shouldn\'t forget that perspectives vary - artists\' oil paints can run nearly a hundred bucks a tube for just regular colours, get into some of the specialist pigments and you\'re talking silly money.
If it\'s made well it\'ll still have a superb point and good spring, plus the capillary action that Kolinsky and sable hair are valued for... I suspect it\'s like with painting knives to some degree though, stainless steel or nickel-plated is good enough for me, but you can get gold-plated if you\'re that sad!
