Take a look in the article section on this site I am sure there is more than one article covering this or search the threads as it is an FAQ that pops up a lot :D

Easy way to make one :
Get a plate (disposable or not), take some sheet of paper cleaner and get them wet, put them down on the plate, and on top of that dispose a single sheet of oven paper (the stuff you usually put at the bottome of plate to prevent the cake from sticking). That should get you a wet pallet :D

Right heres a fast way of creating one for about 5p.

Take a \'pallete\' i use a chinese takeaway lid, you could use a plate or tile or anything really.

Line with a few layers of kitchen roll, or toilet paper, or even foam. Anything that will hold water really.

Soak it with water

Then add two or three sheets of greaseproof paper over the top.

I find the kitchen paper stays wet for about 3-4 painting sessions, so i just lift the greaseproof off and add a fresh layer after one is fully used.

lazy bugger!! just slap some tissue paper on a plate and put some greaseproof paper over the top (the bought ones are bloody expensive!). as for the amount of water to use - you need the tissuepaper (tesco value kitchen paper for me) to be totally saturated. as matty said, use old takeaway boxes or, for smaller pallets (for single colours) use blister packs

I have no idea what this \"grease proof paper\" is... does anyone know if it is the same as wax paper?

NO it is NOT Wax paper. Go to your local grocery store and get whats called baking paper.. its a roll of paper with no waxy film. If you cant figure it out ask someone at the store to help you.

Great! Thanks!

The official name for the paper in the US is Parchment Paper. You\'ll find it in the baking section of any grocery store.

I\'ve used blister packs, until I got my hands on some petrie dishes. they work well, also.
