Wet skin

I am getting ready to paint a new mini and I want her skin to look damp and flush (light skin tone). I am trying to do this without using varnish. I am ok with doing the wet t shirt (clothing) aspect. Can anyone point me to a WIP or article, or even an example. I am not finding much.

It's extremely difficult to pull off the illusion of wetness on a 3D subject without resorting to a gloss finish. The wet t-shirt might be enough to sell the effect, but you can try a few other effects to try to get the impression across. If you look at photos of wet skin, one of the main things to notice is that it can look more saturated, but generally only if it's dark enough - a pale skin pretty much won't look any different, other than being more reflective (so shiny, and a bit reflective).

It may help you taking a look on my Warlord Diorama... I have used a lot of other Techniques that helped creating the Illusion of Wet Surfaces without solely using Gloss Varnish... It works once you put some Dark Blue in your Shadows and use more dramatic Highlights... All you have to do is to Anchor the Idea of Rain or Wet Surfaces in the Spectators head, maybe with some final Effects like a Puddle or Raindrops... Everything is then joined by the Eye and Brain into one Illusion...
