WFB - Capasus Conversion

Throwing this one out for some feedback. I got a commission to do a Capasus conversion based on the Empire General model... from the guy that bought my magnetic General.

Yup, this one is going to be magnetic as well -- but only the arms this time.

Still quite a bit of work to do, of course. I\'m going to GS the front armour and make it cloth -- with a tied seam for the wings to fit through.

The model is pinned (but not glued) on both legs. The pins extend nearly 1/4\" in to the model -- with 1\" in to the base. I\'ll do the base up with rock, sand and vegetation... and a weight just to be safe.

Feedback?

How are you going to blend the joint between wing and barding on the side of the horse?

So it will look like the wings are coming through a seam in cloth -- tied together, loosely, at the bottom.

you know i just had an idea for possibly you doing a mechanical steed with mechanical wings. you might want to check it over with him. just an idea.... and by idea i mean its mine and not yours...if you enter it into anything i will sue you because its mine!!!! sorry i have been teaching middle school kids all day and have had them threatening to take me to court because i have infringed upon their basic human rights. I told them they were too loud and gave out demerits. lol... teenage angst is stupid.

I have a question...

What is a Capasus?

A horse with wings is called a Pegasus, isn\'t it?

How is this different?

Wooh - what a week for updates. I managed to get 25 BT models out for a commission (Orlando GT deadline) and found some time to get back to this one.

At this point I am very, very pleased with how it\'s coming along... with the exception of the brown on the horse. That\'s going to get redone.

Unfortunately I was a bit shortsighted and didn\'t think about getting the rider on there. Looks like I\'m going to have to remove a wing (left wing, top photo) to make this work. I\'d left him off to get additional detail on to him and the Pegasus, of course, but... oops.

Still a long way to go on this one. It\'s a nice break from the usual 40k though and will probably see a lot of progress in a short period of time.

Just a thought (coming from me using a Capasus in games) if your commissioner (don\'t know if this word makes sense) is planning to use it in games you should definitely make the torso and legs magnetic, so if the Pegasus dies, the captain can go on foot, and if the captain dies, the Pegasus can fly around riderless.

Just a suggestion.

Great wings there MJ - Has Bill identified his genus yet? ;)

As an aside - if Pegasus\' have captains, do they have other ranks? :p

WOO HOO FEEDBACK!

@Thunderhawker: someone get the man a tissue ;)

@RcNiles209: Rippers arrived on Monday - thank you - now I just need time to start THAT project.

@frenchkid: I look forward to seeing it finished too. heh.

@Sigmork: Thanks for the suggestion. My client and I actually discussed this - he passed on it saying that while it\'s possible he\'s never had it happen.

@DaN: Not yet. As for other ranks - yes. Yes. they do.

I managed to get the wing off last night - attach the rider - and reattach the wing. No damage and everything worked out just fine.

Updates as I get \'em.

Looking absolutley awesome Justin!

Feathers are an area I sometimes struggle with, and are a bit hit and miss, but your wings look superb!

Thats one of the cool thingw with commissions, you get to have a go at bits you usually wouldn\'t and it keeps the hobby fresh.

Will keep an eye on this one!

I also had the idea of the mechanical winged robo horse for a 40k inquisitor, and seeing this has resparked that thought...

Hehe, lucky him, always annoying when your about to charge his Uber level 4 wizard general with your Capasus, then you get shot to bits, leaving your general running around in front of the enemy army. Or the other way round, your captain gets shot, leaving you with a crazed, frenzied evil Pegasus that hates all enemies. I love the look on my opponents faces when to begin with they think its all over, and it will run away, but they find out it kills and chases down some of their best units. Go pegasi!
